bahama_mama2015 Posted October 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2015 My idea of a perfect vacation is a bottle of wine, a comfy chair, just staring out into the ocean. Can you order a bottle of wine by the pool? Or can you only order glasses?
carolinaviking71208 Posted October 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Doubtful. Glass on a pool deck is generally frowned on.
runner15km Posted October 5, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Order bottles of wine from room service or the Fun Shops.
sandi422 Posted October 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2015 While I understand your desire to have a bottle of wine on deck, it's probably not a good idea. There's a good reason for not having glass around the pool. Please use plastic.
FLNascarGirl48 Posted October 5, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Yes you can buy bottles of wine by the pool... I'm a wine drinker and after 2nd day on the Liberty lido waiter told me to buy a bottle of wine cause it was cheaper than buy the glass.. He served it in a ice bucket still got the plastic wine glass and what I didn't drink I took back to my room..:)
TrqoisWtrs Posted October 5, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2015 My idea of a perfect vacation is a bottle of wine, a comfy chair, just staring out into the ocean. I have a big insulated mug with a lid. I fill with wine from the bottle in my cabin. Then you can ask for a plastic wine glass at any of the pool bars. Yes, its not that sophisticated, but it works. :) And to be honest, I think it depends on where you sit. I ordered a bottle of white once up on the outside deck above the pool, and they brought me the bottle in a bucket of ice.
CruizinMama1026 Posted October 5, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Glass by the pool is a terrible idea. I liked the above posters suggestion of bringing an insulated mug to transport your wine from your cabin?
Taters Posted October 5, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 5, 2015 I brought my bottle of wine to the pool, opened it with my own cork screw and drank it out of a plastic cup. I am a responsible adult and did not break my bottle. LOL
bahama_mama2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Yes I know I said glass of wine, but I don't technically need to drink it from a glass! A plastic cup will work just fine! I was just curious if you could do it by the pool! How does ordering bottles work with the cheers program? GottaLuvCruising Posted October 5, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Carnival makes and changes rules all the time. If there are rules, they may or may not be enforced...so who knows? BUT when I sailed the Triumph for 10 days Feb-Mar this year, I bought a couple of the wine packages (cruise the vineyard.) Although tickets read "valid in dining room or room service only," I used one every sea day for a bottle of sparkling wine at my same chaise by the pool. The bottle was glass, of course, but the goblets provided were plastic. I'm sailing 21 days on the Dream in January and hope to do the same. cb at sea Posted October 5, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 5, 2015 A wine bottle is unlikely to break into slivers, like a glass would. If you're using a plastic drinking vessel, you're fine.

You get a 25% discount on the price of the bottle and the purchase is outside of your Cheers program.

IF they don't let you, call for a bottle from your package via room service, then take it up to the pool. But it worked great for me and they kept ice in my bucket, too. Purvis1231 Posted October 5, 2015 #17 Share Posted October 5, 2015 It is Carnival- I seen guys drinking out of wine bottles in the pool. But of course it was something other than wine in the bottle!

So they emptied the wine bottle to put what else inside exactly? Another form of alcohol?
steph7021 Posted October 6, 2015 #19 Share Posted October 6, 2015 We have taken a bottle of champagne in a bucket out to the pool area...then used the plastic cups to get orange juice from the drink stations. A day of Mimosas!
dd2355 Posted October 6, 2015 #20 Share Posted October 6, 2015 (edited) So they emptied the wine bottle to put what else inside exactly? Another form of alcohol? Liquor most likely. With the popularity of home wine making, it's pretty simple to obtain corks and wrappers. Brown liquor in a red-wine dark color bottle, white liquor in a white wine bottle. Easy way for non-wine drinkers to bring a fifth of liquor aboard at embarkation. Edited October 6, 2015 by dd2355

I was going to say this. It's pretty hard to break a wine bottle, so it's not a danger by the pool like wine glasses are.
