Cabin 10500 is one our favorite suites. We've sailed in that suite on the Gem and the Dawn. I'm positive the Pearl is the same. Below are a few photos from some of our sailings. You will love it!

The forward penthouse would be an EXCELLENT choice for Panama. We had a forward penthouse (9500) on the Jewel for Alaska in July and spent hours on the balcony. Good choice!

We've been in those staterooms twice, and the bump-out is a nice chunk of room. The views are fantastic, however the wind can be an issue when the ship is underway. There is a downside that 10500 and 10000 share, and that is the nose of the bridge covers probably 40% of your deck. What that means is there isn't a lot of sun to be had in those two staterooms. It would drive me crazy to look on our neighbor's deck and see our neighbors enjoying the sun while our deck is in solar darkness.:eek: The other thing is the night time blackout. You can't have your drapes open, nor your balcony light on, because the bridge is directly above you, and the lights affect their night vision. If you turn your cabin lights off in the living room area, and close the door quickly,you can go out on the deck and watch the stars go by, more than you've probably ever seen before.

I love the forward suites, but now only book deck 9, and have two weeks booked on the Gem in 9500, and another week on the Dawn in 9006 and 9002.

We agree about the forward facing penthouses on deck 9. The balcony in 9500 on the Jewel was over 300 sq feet. Could have held a small dance out there.

 

You still have the same rules about room lights. We tried to keep the room lights off or dim if we were going in and out at night. And you want to secure your sea door at night to minimize wind noises and banging of the door.

We had Suite 10500 on the Pearl to Alaska. Loved it, especially in Glacier

Bay. Overhang was welcome during rain. We were still able to be outside where others below us were all wet. we have also taken the Panama Canal cruise. Going through the Lockes takes all day, early morning on o e end and then afternoon at other end. We loved having such a great view, enjoying morning coffee in bathrobes and taking pics. It is hot and humid and overhang was welcome shade. You can pull lounges in sun or back in the shade. 10500 has twice the windows because of the bump out. If you look at suite to your left, it has one 4x8 window. We had plenty of sunlight in our Suite. Enjoy the Pearl. It is our favorite of NCL ships. Been on it 7 times. ( almost home away from home):D

So excited to read everyone's experience. We have 10500 booked on the Dawn for a 3 week B2B Bermuda/Repo cruise. It looked like the extra space for the bump out was pretty significant.

OP...congrats on booking the trip! You have lots of time to plan ...that is half of the fun. :)

We've had deck 10 Owner's Suites on several ships -- absolutely love them. They're all basically the same -- just different decor.

 

We did the Panama Canal on the Jewel in suite 10004. The front balcony was perfect for the canal. We opened up our suite to all of the Cruise Critic roll call members to enjoy the canal with us. We could go out front (or the shaded side balcony) until it got too hot then come in to cool off before going out again. We probably had 50 or 60 people in and out through the day and the suite never was overly crowded. Our butler provided glasses, ice, and snacks all day. We had Mimosas to toast our adventure. Definitely great memories.

For those of you who have done Panama Canal cruises is port or starboard side better or are they the same? And wondering about the owner's suite with the side balcony, is it worth the extra cost upgrade from the front suites to have the two? I have seen both so know what they look like, sailed in 10500 before.
