scungileen Posted October 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2015 Has any one out there used a great guide to drive them to Cinque Terre and show them around. I am interested in a tour that does not involved a lot of walking in between sites as we have a handicapped person. She can walk around when at the destination, but we can't walk from one town to the other. Please help.
CruiserBruce Posted October 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2015 (edited) Unfortunately for your needs, walking is required in the Cinque Terre even if you don't walk from town to town. You will essentially either go by train or ferry, so while the train and ferry get pretty close to the center of each town, you still need to so some serious walking. Bus or car doesn't get you close to each town. So you need to be able to tour the towns on foot. Plus much of the town areas are step, and the streets can be uneven. Hard on someone with mobility limitations. Edited October 22, 2015 by CruiserBruce

The villages themselves are the "site." Nothing that needs a guide to interpret for you. You just walk the cobblestone walkways and up and down the stairs. No vehicles are permitted inside the villages - they must park on the outskirts. As much as I love CT, I would not recommend this for someone on a quick day trip unless they have total mobility. Sorry :(

Cinqueterre is all about walking, even of you can get a boat or train, you still need to walk, a lot!
