LTS1960 Posted October 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2015 I just have a quick question. We turn Platinum on our cruise booked for March 2016 and I was checking out the perks. I know FTTF people get to go straight to their cabins when they get on the ship but do Platinum members? It's no big deal if it is not a perk but it would be nice to drop off carry on bags. Hawaiifrank Posted October 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) http://www.carnival.com/shore-excursions/port-canaveral-orlando-fl/faster-to-the-fun-102043 (Note: VIFP Club Platinum and Diamond members do not need to purchase this package as these and other benefits are included as part of your VIFP Club status.) I also looked at the Platinum benefits list. It mentioned "priority check in and boarding", but does not specifically list that your cabin will be ready. I guess it goes without saying, because FTTF does specifically list that your cabin will be ready and your luggage will be delivered faster. Platinum, Diamond, and FTTF passengers get Priority Boarding, Immediate Stateroom Access, and Early Luggage Delivery. Suite guests who are not Platinum, Diamond, or FTTF get the first two perks but not Early Luggage Delivery.

Thank you, this will please my husband as he wanted to drop off bags before we eat and tour the ship.

Actually, Platinum and Diamond board BEFORE FTTF, and as part of the perks, Platinum and Diamond cabins are ready the minute you step aboard. Congrats on turning Platinum, you earned it! elliair Posted October 26, 2015 #13 Share Posted October 26, 2015 FTTF will board at same time for tenders. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk I looked online at Carnival's frequently asked questions. There's nothing there about tendering. I do recall seeing it and I'm wondering if Carnival changed the site to omit it. I did find this which I assume goes for tendering as well: Q: As a past guest, doesn’t FTTF take away from the exclusivity of my VIFP Club Diamond and Platinum benefits?A: VIFP Platinum and Diamond members receive all the benefits of FTTF for free. So, not only is the program complimentary for those individuals but we’ve also enhanced the VIFP Club benefits overall on these ships where we are offering FTTF. At the start of boarding, VIFP Platinum and Diamond members will board first prior to those guests who have purchased the FTTF program.
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted October 26, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 26, 2015 Actually, Platinum and Diamond board BEFORE FTTF, and as part of the perks, Platinum and Diamond cabins are ready the minute you step aboard. Congrats on turning Platinum, you earned it! I haven't cruised on Carnival since Dec 2012 when I turned platinum and crew would not let me access the rooms. I told them I was supposed to have access to my cabin right away and he said no. I had to go to guest services who then called someone to come escort us to our cabin. If you haven't cruised since Dec. 2012, I don't think you were supposed to be able to go right to your cabin. It became a Platinum perk when they started offering FTTF. Since it was a perk for FTTF, they also extended it to Plat/Diamond members. That was the only good thing about FTTF, we got another perk that we didn't have before. I don't remember when they first started FTTF, but I think it was some time in 2013. Edited October 26, 2015 by Sparky2
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted October 26, 2015 #16 Share Posted October 26, 2015 I think fttf was implemented at the time of my last sailing. I could be wrong but pretty sure it was but it was new. I know I was allowed to go to my cabin as I was told that was a perk at the time but it was a new perk. I was on a back to back Christmas cruise. DaisyGirl55 Posted October 26, 2015 #17 Share Posted October 26, 2015 For me, the best part of the Platinum perk is being able to go to my cabin right away and the early luggage delivery. I am usually unpacked before muster! Also, I really enjoyed the smaller Past Guest party a few weeks ago on the Breeze. Better food and drinks and definitely not as crowded. Actually had fun! D4 Posted October 27, 2015 #18 Share Posted October 27, 2015 We've been platinum for many years. Our cabin has not been ready when we've boarded on at least 2 cruises during the last couple years. I think the steward's list is not always accurate, they might have a lot of platinum/FTTF cabins, lots of the prior guests may have stayed in their cabins later, etc.
sparkscruiser Posted October 27, 2015 #19 Share Posted October 27, 2015 Just an FYI for those that are not aware. You get priority departing the ship but not in the return to ships line....alas, we will just have to wait! Looking forward to sailing soon. Never had that problem as a platinum. In the FAQ at the Carnival site it says right there that you have access to your cabin as soon as you board. This is a platinum/diamond/suite perk. FTTF pays for this privilege. From the Carnival website: Guaranteed Stateroom Your stateroom will be ready as soon as you board, so you can relax or freshen up for the fun you're about to have. I didn't think the party was as good on the freedom earlier this month. It took a long time for anyone to even come and give me a drink and the only food I was offered was a sushi roll containing crab. I'm deathly allergic to crab so I received no appetizers.
