1st time in a Suite

Recommended Posts

Hi all

So I just decided to treat us as a surprise for my husband and paid up for a Grand suite instead of our upcoming interior in November on Adventure.

1st time on this ship and 1st time in a suite.

I've read lots of info and of all the extra amenities and perks I think the biggest benefit to us is the space, balcony and bathroom and the ability to order from MDR for room service which we will probably do 1 night.

I see there is a concierge lounge which we will be able to use, is there also another area? Viking crown lounge? Seems like the concierge lounge has no view so wondered if there was another area which is lighter?!

Aside from the other little things like toiletries, reserved show seating which are on any thread you search am I missing anything?

Thanks all!!

The Concierge Lounge on deck 9, no windows, is the only lounge area for suite guests, unless you are also Diamond or above in C&A, in which case you will also have access to the Diamond Lounge up in Viking Crown.

Adventure has suite seating near the pool, in the terraced section between decks 11 and 12 near the Pool Bar and Sky Bar.

Suite perks:

You can ask the concierge about getting a free bridge tour and/or galley tour. Also on the first day you can get your clothes for the first formal night pressed for free.

You can go to the concierge to take care of things instead of waiting in line at guest services. The concierge lounge has a coffee machine which is nice in the morning.

I am not sure about the Adventure but there maybe a gold card only breakfast were you are served. The Suite reception (normally on the first sea day) with the officers is a nice event. There is Gold card only seating area by the pool.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I had checked out the various threads with the whole lists of generic suite perks so was just wondering specific to Adventure what the areas are as they all seem different depending on class etc.

We have another cruise booked next year in Harmony the price jump to GS on there is much more however I understand why - better perks etc so this will be a great test for me to see whether I feel the extra money is worth it.

Like I said shampoo bottles a concierge and a robe mean little to me, the space feels much more important - I guess after this trip I'll find out!

While I mention it the new suite programme feels as though RC are backing themselves in to a corner slightly for their standard roll out of promotions. Once you take off the costs of drink package, Internet etc perks it seems any further discounts on suites are going to make the balcony prices seem sky high.

I guess what it may do is keep the suite prices up and allow bigger bargains for those booking balcony downwards. I'm keeping an eye on my Harmony booking as I'm interested to see how it shakes out.

You will love the suite, our last 2 cruises and next 2 on in GS, my favorite perks were we had breakfast and lunch in Chops ( we were on Naviagtor) , loved sitting in suite area by pool and really loved reserved seating for ice show , so you could just bypass the lines, also concierge got us off ship right after breakfast and before everyone else. Do not miss the ice show.

Cool thanks for the tips! We have quite a few excursions planned for ports however are real early birds so I think we will be back to the ship most days for the afternoon so will be enjoying lots of pool time!

We have been on Oasis and Anthem the shows are one of my favourite parts of cruising so we will make the ice show for sure!

In terms of food- the MDR dinner isn't the only thing you have have delivered. The breakfast menu is expanded to the same on in the MDR. Which can be really great to have breakfast on your balcony, too.

Also, all of the specialty restaurants will deliver to your room. With fee, of course.

Many ships have special suite get togethers- we had a really nice suite dinner up in the Windjammer with many officers.

The part your husband will "get it"- priority boarding and a short line.

One that's really nice- escorted debarkation. Although, that's the last thing you will enjoy.... ;)

Enjoy your time. Although, one word of warning- it's addictive. :D

Ok, maybe I won't get blasted for asking this, but we are booked in a GS in January on FOS, with an adjoining balcony room for my brother. Can he board with us? He is a first time cruiser, so don't want to abandon him in the terminal? Just curious if he will be able to check in with us and wait in the same area as us. Our reservations are linked, and we booked the adjoining room with the GS. Thanks for any helpful info.

They port people will ususally let your party stay together, within limits. The linking and connecting have no effect on check-in and boarding.

If for some reason they won't let your brother stay with you, then just stay with him in the regular line. The difference in minimal.

Boarding together is possible(probable). however while on board he will NOT have access to anything that is suite only.. such as the Lounge, the suite only breakfast in a Specialty, etc. so you will have to forego all of that if you wish to remain together.

Oh that's great to know about breakfast menu Thankyou! We enjoyed breakfast on our balcony on Oasis last year but this year for Anthem the menu was much reduced so we didn't bother using it. We also found the wait time during the day and evening horrendous considering the small amount of choices available breakfast at its a timed slot for delivery is super convenient we found even if just for coffees and juice.

So on Adventure the only up charge restaurant being Giovannis we could pay their surcharge and have our choices delivered to our room?

Edit: sorry 2 corrections to my post: Portofino, and suite not 'room'

A little hint for ordering room service from the MDR. I order it early about 5 or so and ask for it to be delivered at a specific time e.g. 7 or 7:30, because in the past, I would order around 6 and have to wait for it to arrive, sometimes 2 hours. That way you don't have to wait around in your room for it to arrive in case it comes early.

Try it and see. Just be aware they may not let you.

Last year in Galveston I had a group of 7. Four of us in two adjoining JS, the other 3 were in an inside. Two of the people in the inside were platinum, one was gold. We were told if we wanted to go through check-in together we couldn't go through the suite/platinum and above line. (There was no one in the line at the time.)
