Its been out for a full week - I kinda surprise it making the rounds now after the fact. But the investor call will be this week - I expect nothing but flames and gnashing of teeth that day. But for me, it's a Tuesday, lol.

Spotless ships? Then somebody needs to remove the pair of boots I found under my bed on my recent cruise. I don't know how long they were there. Going back in January and will be in the same cabin....curious if they are still there!

Was on the Breakaway in January 2015. The designated smoking area in the glass enclosure was always dirty.

Maybe keeping the smoking area dirty will encourage folks to quit.

I don't know about the smoking area, as I am not a smoker, thank goodness, but as for the boots under the bed, a spotless hospital could have something like that happen. I don't care how clean something is, things do get overlooked. We were just off the Jewel, it was amazingly clean and yet, one bathroom near the buffet one morning was a mess; It was breakfast time, the ship was full and everyone with kids (a good part of the ship) had kids eating there. I am sure if someone was looking to bitch they would have said the bathrooms were awful. I am also pretty sure an hour later that bathroom was probably as spotless as the rest of the ship. You may also want to check when FDR took over: it was just shortly before you found the boots. While you are checking you might want to check the CDC reports on various ships. Indeed, though nothing is perfect including NCL they generally are thought to have very clean ships, even before he was named.

How come on every single Norwegian thread there has to be some kind of attack on smokers?

Because the pax that smoke make it a health hazard for non smokers

A very large % of pax can't go near or walk thru or use the casino and on the BA that also means le bistro and other up charge places are out as well

It's a dead horse btw smoking will be banned soon enough on ships

Not soon enough for some. Perhaps the way to do it is to have each guest register as a smoker or nonsmoker and charge a premium for the right to smoke and only in the designated areas. Would be fun to read the threads about the nickeled and dimed smokers who are taking their business elsewhere. Remember all those folks who went elsewhere when smoking was banned in balconies? :D

You mean that went to the casino and designated smoking spots instead of lighting up on the balcony? I don't think even NCL realize how successful or bad (depending on whom you ask), that was/is...

I was thinking of the ones who claimed they would never sail NCL again, have no idea if casino is worse than before since I just take a deep breath and walk quickly. :D

There always has to be SOMEONE to take a thread off topic with SMOKING.

Does not matter if you're for it or against it.......this thread has nothing to do with the smoking policy people!

Harriet

Could be about unintended consequences for certain policies or statements.

It has to do with fdr wanting spotless ships

The smoking areas are not spotless.

Of course the ba casino design trumps all discussions about casino smoking being that it's open to a tri level atrium and the smoke permeates the entire area including le bistro and headliners

All they need to do is put up floor to ceiling plexiglas around the casino area near the atrium

Right now it's a 3 foot plexiglass which is useless

Floor to ceiling will at least keep the smoke out of the above and below open atrium areas and allows pax to still view the beautiful casino even if they aren't able to walk thru it due to smoke

What were they thinking? Come on FDR you can change this!!!!!!

I happen to like Mr Del Rio way of future thinking. I like new, modern, and innovative ships. The Getaway blew my mind and that's why I booked 3 more cruise with NCL. Now before all the claws come out. The man ran other lines and made a product good to great. If he wants to do it to all NCL ships...that's superb!

The groundwork was already there with the Breakaway - Del Rio and Stuart are just as you said, making the entire fleet good to great. Its just that in order to do that, they have to step on some customer's toe that don't like change....

The smoking areas are not spotless.

But if they were....

people would complain about the smoke and/smell.

I'm not a drinker so I say stop serving drinks everywhere. After all the ships are not spotless as there are empty or half empty glasses left everywhere; the floor, top of trash cans, elevators, steps, etc. etc. Now isn't this just as silly?
