herdingdogmom Posted November 10, 2015 #26 Share Posted November 10, 2015 Do you pay taxes on drinks when docked at every port? I thought it was just NYC. On my Pearl cruise last week, 6% tax in Florida and 7.5% vat on my drink at GSC. The VAT was noted in the daily.
holmar12 Posted November 10, 2015 #27 Share Posted November 10, 2015 Nope, they add tax in each port. Just got off the same cruise. Was very dissapointing to miss GSC. The cruise itself was probably the worst I've ever been on. The ship seemed under staffed. Very little information given about anything. It was also some kind of school holiday in NJ, so the ship was full of kids. We were very disappointed. way to many kids. by the 2nd day people without kids were sick of the kids by day 5 parents with kids were sick of kids. CasinoCruzGirl Posted November 10, 2015 #28 Share Posted November 10, 2015 Like mking and Dx I was on the same cruise as them and we skipped GSC. Then I was on another cruise a few months later and we skipped it again. Thenlast time I had purchased the large cabana and the money was added to my OBC within minutes of not stopping at GSC. Am booked on the gem this coming April maybe this time we will actually stop but I'm not counting on it because things come in threes lol. We will see. I won't be to dissapointed because this time I'll be in the garden villa having a fabulous time. Geri

I have read on many review how terrible the casino smells, and they're right. So I don't understand why you'd make everyone stand there for long and not even allow kids to sit. The tendering process was horribly run, similarly to the cruise as a whole.

We made it to GSC two out of three times (missing it the last time). NCL can't win when it comes to when to cancel this stop. I've seen many reviews complaining they cancelled too early, without giving tenders a shot. This week on the BA always has tons of kids, similar to a holiday sailing. Rare mking8288 Posted November 11, 2015 #34 Share Posted November 11, 2015 (edited) That sounded horrible to prevent restless children from sitting on those casino chairs while waiting for the tendering to get underway. FBP and Dex, others can help jolt memories, casino was CLOSED on the morning of arrival at GSC in preparation, even the slots were turned off. One of our nephew & his friends are on the BA at this moment at PC, lite rain showers off & on today and humid - hoping for better luck tomorrow in getting to GSC, going to try to keep track of their success & issues while waiting, if I could  Back on topic, sounded like grumpy crew members, not happy campers and venting at customers, or was it ship security ?? ;) What happened to the happy, happy, smiley, smiley crew members of NCL lately ? The new CEO once referenced to the synergy, which has been called to questions :p Edited November 11, 2015 by mking8288
