RCI 5% Casino Charge

When we are on RCI cruises we get charged 5% to change credit from our on board account to chips in the casino.

Does anyone know a way around this?

Can I go to the reception desk and take cash off my card and use cash in the casino to avoid the 5%?

I don't know all the in and outs of it ,but I have seen discussion on the American boards so you could perhaps check out the Princess board. They seem to be up to all the tricks of the trade.:D

All I do know is that the Casino is separate from the cruise line. The cruise line tenders out a concession to operate a Casino. The Casino staff all work for that company.

That may have something to do with the interaction of OBC and Casino play money.

Like above , if ever I play , I have always used cash...its much easier to lose , and you can actually have fun while you watch your money disappear.....:D:D

what i have done with princess is to register my cruise card in the casino and transfer money from the cruise card to the casino but you would be paying the going rate for your account but it wouldnt be 5%....i'm sure you could do the same with RCI but you could check with the casino staff if it can be done

if you have OBC and want to cash out you could do it that way but dont tell the casino staff about the OBC because they dont like being used as an ATM

Not sure if RCI would work the same as Princess. Check to see if you can buy casino credits and then there will be no commission.

with princess you can buy casino credits but not sure about RCI
