Carnival Spirit - are doors hinged or sliding?

Can anyone tell me if the doors to the balcony on Carnival Spirit are sliding or hinged and if they can stay in the open position, or do you need to use an occi strap or something?

Hinged Doors... They do stay open by themselves but a strong wind will blow them shut.

We take an ochy strap with us to use on the door.

They do advise to leave the doors out to the balcony closed.

This is because of the air conditioning throughout the ship and it can effect a pressure build up. If you do have the door open , be very careful opening the cabin door into the hallway. the pressure build up will make it difficult and when you do get it open there will a sudden rush of air. We tried it once and all the papers on the desk took off and went flying out into the hallway.:eek::D

Just in case it affects you, the door is very heavy.

 

We took the occy strap but found it a waste of time, on the rare occasions that we wanted the door open we used the chair. However the occy strap became a handy extra clothes line.

Leaving a balcony door open CAN be very dangerous -- in regards to the operation of the cabin door!!!! Be warned!!!!!!! There are a number of reasons why they tell you to keep the balcony door closed
