rhon2001 Posted November 30, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2015 I was wondering how long it takes to get from PIE in Tampa to the port to load the boat? We are planning our first cruise and flying from Ashville on the day the cruise departs. The plane is supposed to arrive at 10:28 am and I am worried about making it to the port. Capt_BJ Posted November 30, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2015 you sure it is PIE? OK I see Allegiant does fly Ash' to PIE cuz that airport is not in Tampa .... it is in Clearwater, west of Tampa Bay. TPA - Tampa airport to the cruise port is under 10 miles .... for PIE to the cruise port you are looking at around 15 miles but with WAY fewer flights into PIE I'd expect you'd get your bags faster and be in a taxi faster so ... either way I'd be expecting an hour or so from the time you are off the plane to get bags and take a taxi .... you should be there b4 noon - easy. airport web site http://www.fly2pie.com/ one warning ..... how many flights a day are there for you? If there is a problem (weather, equipment etc) what are your options? This is a case where getting to Tampa the night b4 has benefits to lower risk ....... and I see the Ash' flight is not even every day . . . Rare Keith1010 Posted November 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2015 I would consider flying in the day before the cruise. Keep in mind things go wrong and if the flight is cancelled or delayed significantly you could end up missing the ship. Keith
cb at sea Posted December 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 1, 2015 It's doable, if everything goes according to plan! Clearwater isn't far....
