Flight home at 11AM from MSY

We are cruising out of the port of New Orleans this January and flying home...is a 11am flight doable? I see that the port is less than 20 miles to the airport. The next reasonable flight home is at 6:55PM :(

It is possible to make this flight but it is also just as likely that you don't make it. You have to assume that fog is not an issue and that the ship docks on time. Then you have to assume that CBP and ICE do their jobs quickly and you can start disembarking at 8:00.

 

If you can do those two things and use self disembarkation you can be off the ship and on the way to the airport by 9:00 a.m., which should have you to the gate by 10:00 or about 20 minutes before most airlines start boarding.

 

If there are any issues at any point - fog, clearing the ship, getting through customs, traffic delays, or long lines at the airport - you might not be on that flight.

You never know, but I wouldn't book it. I personally wouldn't book anything before 1pm.

It may have been just a one time event, but New Orleans, as a port, was the worst debarkation we've ever had. We were over two hours from our luggage tag color being called until we finally reached the street. But as others said, if all goes well, yes you could make it....probably.

I would not book an early flight. We just got off the Dawn on the 6th and did easy walk off and did not get off til almost noon. It was the worst dembarkation ever.

We ended up booking a 1:30 flight home just to be safe.

If you're flying January 31st, you may run into some Mardi Gras Parade traffic.

Depending how late in January. Mardi gras is early this year and lots of parades all weekend days, early and late
