What time to plan to get off Grand in San Francisco?

Want to arrange for a private car pick up at the port in San Francisco. Wondering how long it will take to clear the ship returning from Mexico, no American ports prior to arriving in San Francisco.

Anyone have this experience? We have done Mexican cruises with stops in San Diego on the way back, not this time.

When we did the 10 day Mexico on the Star from SF the last passengers off the ship were around 9:30am. It took us about 15 mins to get through Immigration and Customs.

Anytime after about 7:30 is fine. It's really up to you. 1 or 2 days before you get back to SF, you will have a paper to fill out stating if you want to handle your luggage yourself and if you have any flights. It will not take long to get through immigration at all. So I would pick whatever time you want to get off. Pretty much everyone is off the ship before 10am. Also if after you get your luggage tags a day or 2 before, if you do not like the time they assign you, just go to the purser's desk. However they may not give you a better time.

We got off the Grand in San Francisco 2 days ago. They those who handled their own luggage started a little before 8:00. The 1st group of those who had Princess handle their luggage started a little after 8:00. We were in the 3rd group and were off about 8:30. Customers and Border Protection was very fast and we were in our car parked nearby by 8:45.

We were fogged in for our January 2015 Mexico sailing on the Star Princess. Had to anchor in the Bay until the fog lifted.

My notes on the Disembarkation flyer show that the first Express Walk Off group didn't leave until 09:30 (1.5 hours late).

Posts on our Roll Call showed that several missed their flights at SFO.

Just thought I would throw in this information as our experience last month in San Francisco was a little different. This is our home port so we had no flight to catch and it was not important that we disembark at any particular time. Our scheduled time to disembark was 10:20 and there were still many groups scheduled after us. I think the week prior to ours was on the same scheduling as we saw quite a few people walking down the Embarcadero pulling luggage when we arrived at the pier at about 10:45.
