Florry Posted December 26, 2015 #51 Share Posted December 26, 2015 Hopefully we can meet up some time. It will have to be late dining though ;) You should both come on the 3 day Princess cruise on 23 April to Guernsey [emoji4]
jeanlyon Posted December 26, 2015 #52 Share Posted December 26, 2015 Me too. By 6 pm, I am either still at the pool, or wandering around the ship enjoying the sea rushing by. Then to the cabin for a shower and a sit down watching the TV whilst other half has a sleep. (he can sleep anywhere, anytime). Then to the bar for a nice pre-dinner drink. Perfect. Oh God, I'm not cruising until May :-(

Rare Host Sharon Posted December 26, 2015 #56 Share Posted December 26, 2015 I and my cabin buddy have often felt 6.30 is way too early but 8.30 is a little too late. However, having sailed on a few US lines lately with open sittings, we found we just never could get ready for dinner before 8pm, even when we tried! We both HAVE to be out on deck for leaving port (not for sailaway parties though as I hate them), then by the time we have showered, changed, had a short nap (me anyway) and a pre-dinner cocktail it's dinner time. Mysticalmother Posted December 27, 2015 #57 Share Posted December 27, 2015 I hope my posting (13) didnt come across as a criticism at people who want to dine at a time to suit them. It wasnt meant to. People have different reasons for wanting to dine at a particular time, and I have no problem with that. And if people really want to spend time queueing for their main meal, as you say, that is up to them. I just find it a little strange though for select dining when you know you won't get in to the MDR before your dining time. Hope everyone has had a Happy Christmas and havent been affected by this appalling weather. And if you are going on a cruise soon......enjoy! Got a few more months to wait myself! Got a few more months to wait myself! The same to you :) Thankfully, we live on a very steep hill so we are safe re the weather. Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the floods - it puts the things we moan about sometimes in to perspective. We have just been pricing up a week on Azura at Easter and are tempted - either that or the 10 Oceana repositioning, but not sure if we can justify the extra cost......... :)
pisces14 Posted December 28, 2015 #59 Share Posted December 28, 2015 We've always had 6.30pm sitting but as I previously said 6pm is much too early. I've spoken to our Personal cruise specialist and have changed to second sitting. If it hasn't changed to 8pm then we will have to live with it. We've always meant to try the later sitting anyhow. If it's 8pm then that will be even better.
Josy1953 Posted December 28, 2015 #60 Share Posted December 28, 2015 In the earlier days we used to choose 2nd sitting because after a day out we needed time to wind down before getting ready for dinner but we actually prefer to eat around 7:30pm so freedom dining has been good for us, the only thing that I don't particularly like is that we don't get to know our table mates in the same way that we used to. I would never criticise anyone's preference because we are all different and have our own reasons for choosing whatever we choose to do. Now we are looking forward to boarding Ventura 8th April for our 1st 2016 cruise, though it seems too long to wait, perhaps it is time to look for something to do before then (lol).
