Battery operated candles only, no open flames.

Nothing that produces an open flame is allowed. Candles and incense are specifically banned in the cruise documentation. Lighters and matches are of course allowed, but then you can't use them in the cabin anyway.

The gift shop will sell you a $10 lanyard with a pouch, or you can go to your local store and buy one for a fraction of the cost.

It makes no difference. You should have your checked luggage delivered to your cabin before you would need or want the battery operated candles.

No candles, tiki torches, or camp fires in the cabins. Carnival is just so strict:)

On a cruise when we used battery operated candles I showed them to the room steward the first day, so he wouldn't misunderstand and confiscate them.
