gelfy666 Posted December 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 25, 2015 are any jabs recommended for a cruise to the Caribbean?
BrianI Posted December 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted December 25, 2015 Whilst there are no mandatory jabs required there are some advisory ones. However, no one on here is aware of your medical history so you should book an appointment with your GP practice nurse. They have all the up to date information. Just give them your itinery and they will advise. Brian

tartanexile81 Posted December 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted December 25, 2015 We've never had any for the Caribbean but we fill in a form for our practice and they advise us accordingly. Think it's worthwhile to check your anti-tetanus and Hepatitis are up to date
SparklyB Posted December 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 25, 2015 I have been to see our practice nurse. Had Hep A and typhoid in a combined jab. I think had I not had Hep B vaccine for work that might have been offered too. Beyond that I was fine as I was up to date with the rest. cruisebore Posted December 27, 2015 #7 Share Posted December 27, 2015 Not have had any jabs but now use Jungle Formula repellent, because of the increased incidence of Dengue Fever,( no vaccine available) transmitted by mosies and unlike the malaria carriers, during the day. john watson Posted December 27, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 27, 2015 Places like St Maarten which get affected by Dengue Fever have government initiatives when the breeding season starts, to spray all standing water sources to try and combat the problem. When looking into vaccinations you need to study the recommendations and read the small print details of exactly how you might be exposing yourself to risk. A day excursion of varying types; and some may be worse than others, is not the same as immersing yourself in the local community and environment for a week or a fortnight. shallwe Posted December 27, 2015 #9 Share Posted December 27, 2015 Judging by the number of coughing fits on the plane to and from the Caribbean two weeks ago, I'd suggest a flu jab :-)
