Taxi Service to Royal Palms

My family of 5 will be in Grand Cayman next week. We plan on spending the day at the Royal Palms and we were wondering the best way to get there. I assume it is too far to walk. Are taxis readily available at the pier? Any idea as to what the rates are? I know some ports are heavily regulated and even have the rates posted. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

We were there January 2015. Taxis are a short walk from the pier. Just follow the crowd. We took the van and the driver waited for it to fill up before leaving. They will not leave with a half full van. I can't recall the exact price per person. Maybe a few bucks? I believe Royal Palms is the first or second stop. Just let the driver know that's where you'd like to get off. We rented a cabana ahead of time so the entrance was free. Otherwise I think it's $2.00 per person.

I love Royal Palms!! We reserve a cabana ....love it..yes there is taxi service from the pier... Last trip we had a taxi driver that DID not want to drop us there and argued with me about us having reservations... He wanted us to go farther , so he could charge more....can't remember the fare, sorry... I reported this when we got to Royal Palms and they have had this problem in the past.. other than that it is my most favorite place!!!!! Have fun and enjoy!!!

No worries. You can still rent loungers and an umbrella (around $25 I think) if you get there early and they set them up on the beach for you. You still have full use of the facilities. Others we know just walked down the beach to the right and found a nice shady spot under some trees, just up from the waters edge, and put down their beach towels.

We also went cheap on the transportation going and opted for the bus which dropped us off right in front of the resort. On the return trip there was a van waiting to take cruise passengers back to the ship. I think we paid $2 or less pp each way.

2 lounges and an umbrella go for $35.

Is that a total of $35.00 for the 2 lounges and umbrella on the beach, plus $4.00 for the entrance for 2, so $39.00? Trying to decide between that and renting a cabana by the pool for $50.00 and no entrance fee. Also, if sitting by the pool without a cabana, are umbrellas available?

Thanks!
