Can anybody tell me please if one doesn't want to go on any of the ships excursions in Honolulu is it possible to walk from the port to any points of interest / shopping etc, if not, is there transport available?

Like wise for Lahaina, Pago Pago and Apia.

Thanks

Haven't done Honolulu with P&O but when I did it on a Carnival ship there was a complimentary shuttle bus put on by a shop called Hilo Hattie's.

From the ship it takes you to Hilo Hatties where everyone gets off but then you can just catch the next shuttle and then it takes you to various points round Honolulu (Waikiki beach, shopping centre, hotels etc.)

Last year, there was a free shuttle to the big Ala Moana shopping mall, which is close to Waikiki Beach. It was our first American port and so it took a bit of time to go through immigration before being allowed off the ship. There is a shopping centre by the dock, but there's not much there, although there was a micro brewery in there in 2013. You can easily take a cab or local bus to Pearl Harbor, in 2013 I think it was about $20 for a cab and there were four of us. Last year, we just took the shuttle into Waikiki.

Lahaina was a tender for us in 2008. Seem to remember it being quite small town and the tender dropped in town. We did a private tour along the 'Road to Hana' for the day which was excellent and spent the evening in Lahaina where there were a few bars.

In Honolulu, Pearl Harbor is worth a visit, easy by taxi but I would go as early as you can it gets queued up. Best to get there before the organised tours if you can. We booked a Luau in the evening which was very good, can't remember which one though.

Few ago since we were there but several free shuttles outside. We took the one to Walmart and then walked to beach. P&O's shuttle went to big shopping mall.

Make sure you have a map if intending to walk but easy to do from shopping areas.
