MaggieMay1931 Posted January 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2016 Ok, don't go off on me for what I'm going to say, but if I ran around in front of people or was alone on an elevator without parents & pushed every button while people are trying to get to their room or dinner, my butt would've been spanked or sitting in the cabin for time out!!!!!!! It's rediculous how many kids are on here now & acting up. Don't get me wrong, I have two grown daughters & 6 grandchildren, they have never been that bad or disrespectful. There were kids in the casino, some of them were pushing buttons on people's machine & would run!!! My next cruise will be an adults only

Rare A&L_Ont Posted January 5, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 5, 2016 When I grew up if I acted out of line I would have got a slap on my ass and sent to my bedroom.
cb at sea Posted January 5, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 5, 2016 It's today's culture, unfortunately....apparently, disciplining your kids is a big no-no...let them do what they want, when they want...and if they don't turn out to be kind, productive adults, then they are victims, and the government will take care of their precious little butts...either thru welfare, or prison. Yikes!!!

Merion_Mom Posted January 5, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 5, 2016 I disagree. Kids have ALWAYS done stuff like this. They just have a broader playing field to do it in.
MaggieMay1931 Posted January 5, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted January 5, 2016 Its just a shame, you're trying to have a nice time that we paid hard earned money for & have all these kids running around like maniacs. Some were only about 4 & 5 years old on the elevators by themselves. You can guess how they are at windjammer so
Doug S Posted January 5, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 5, 2016 I call them 'feral children'. For some reason many parents think a cruise ship is the perfect venue to get drunk by the pool and give their precious little offspring free run of the ship with no limits or supervision at all. Maybe they are like that all the time but cruising seems to amplify the ratty behavior. That being said, I have also run into some really great kids, and some not so great adults on cruises. spazzyjanet Posted January 5, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 5, 2016 Which sailing was this? I didn't see any of this on last week's cruise.
ggglo Posted January 5, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 5, 2016 Strange. We were on the allure last week for New Years traveling with our entire family plus about 1400 kid. My elevator never stopped at unnecessary floors, no kids in casino ever, everything seemed to be under control! One thing for sure, if you don't want to be with tons of children don't go on Royal Caribbean!

sarahleebones Posted January 6, 2016 #12 Share Posted January 6, 2016 This is exactly why we have "adult" vacations and "family" vacations. If I want to go and relax and not worry about what my child is doing we go solo. But still have family vacations where we watch our daughter and make sure she doesn't run wild. It's sheer laziness....and selfishness. Bottom line is that if you are not willing to keep an eye on your children, you have no business going on vacation with them. PERIOD. JessandLevi Posted January 6, 2016 #14 Share Posted January 6, 2016 My son is 3 and he knows if he's bad he doesn't get to go swimming. I try to keep him well behaved but still let him have freedom. I couldn't imagine a young child (4-5) being alone to roam the ship and I can guarantee my son won't be wandering alone for a long time. Now I am one of the parents that don't believe in spanking but only because I can usually get my son to stop an unwanted behavior by asking/telling him no. If he doesn't then a privilege is taken away (swimming, tablet, cartoons)
spazzyjanet Posted January 6, 2016 #15 Share Posted January 6, 2016 Now, we did see some TEENAGERS in the casino, but no kids. We sat at Roullete one night and watched the casino boss scan and point every time he saw one. It was actually pretty funny and it was very discreet. An employee would go up and ask them for their sea pass and they would always make up a quick excuse and bolt. :D
