GRACECRUISE Posted January 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2016 Those look like the chocolate croissants. A good bakery! We have made them with the refrigerated croissant dough and choc chips rolled in. The kids like them but just not the same. Have had them from a bakery and they were pretty good. Old As Dirt Mom Posted January 11, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2016 (edited) anybody know where I can get the recipe for these? the wife LOVES em! They are like the French "petit pain au chocolat". I did an internet search for them, and Very Best Baking by Nestle has a recipe: https://www.verybestbaking.com/recipes/32229/petit-pain-au-chocolat/ edited to add that I like Funtraveler's idea of buying them at Trader Joe's! I tried making them several years ago - what a disaster! I love to cook, but I am not a good baker. I decided the frozen ones at Trader Joe's are so much simpler :-)
sail7seas Posted January 11, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2016 Thanks for mentioning the Trader Joe's croissants. I've never tried them but will likely go there this week to pick up some. :)
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 11, 2016 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2016 I love those chocolate croissants as well. We don't have a Trader Joe's in our area. And the Bakeries in our grocery stores don't make them. Only place I can get them is on a HAL ship.
sjn911 Posted January 11, 2016 #8 Share Posted January 11, 2016 It has been a long time...miss being close to a Trader Joes....once discovered...truly good croissants and pain au chocolat if at all possible on your diet once in a while are worth every extra pound to take off later. Also...my dad's grandma did this for him...when in a terrible craving...good buttered toast and your favorite chocolate chips.. under the broiler just to melt and spread...and yes chocolate toast...an occasional easy delight my family ruined all neighborhood kids for in the day...still comes back to me with friends jokes...LOL. I am lucky I am not close to access to these treats and rarely buy...sigh.
jbhcw Posted January 11, 2016 #9 Share Posted January 11, 2016 As many have said the frozen ones at TJ's are amazing..you just set them out the night before and they quadrupled in size...then you just pop them in the oven...delish...other best idea is a good bakery.
