Smong Posted October 16, 2017 #26 Share Posted October 16, 2017 I was told on another thread that OBC from NCL that you get when booking can NOT be used in the casino at all?? Anyone have the answer to that??
rollo89 Posted October 16, 2017 #27 Share Posted October 16, 2017 Smog- I believe you are correct. The OBC that NCL offers is non refundable and cannot be used in the casino. If you purchase OBC yourself, that is refundable and can be used in the casino. Anyone else concur? Ron
NMLady Posted October 16, 2017 #28 Share Posted October 16, 2017 Will they allow you to take it out in promotional chips without the fee. On Celebrity they gave promotional chips that could not be cashed. If you play and win you are paid in standard chips, but the original bet remains promo. If you lose they take the promo chips. Obviously doing it this way at some point you must lose the money paid from OBC. But if you are planning on playing anyway the odds are you will not win every hand so you are still using OBC to play. And if you can play without losing, you have had a damn good night. 😁 Sent from my SM-T810 using Forums mobile app No promotional chips for purchase on NCL for several years. Russ_MT Posted November 1, 2017 #31 Share Posted November 1, 2017 We have a few hundred dollars of onboard credit from the promotional fare (part of the package). We did not ADD money to get it. So according to NCL website, you can use it in the casino. From the NCL blog If you're a savvy traveler, chances are you keep up with Norwegian's cruise deals and promotions. These special offers often come with incentives like "onboard credit" or "onboard spend" to help you treat yourself to some perks aboard the ship. So just how should you spend your onboard credit? The possibilities are seemingly endless. Feeling lucky? Use your onboard credit towards your favorite casino games. Let Lady Luck guide you through as you put your OBC to good use. So my takeaway is you can cash out your OBC (less the 3% fee not mentioned in the blog). https://www.ncl.com/travel-blog/how-to-onboard-credit

I thought you couldn’t use OBC from ncl giving at time of booking in the casino at all?!
Russ_MT Posted November 1, 2017 #33 Share Posted November 1, 2017 Now I’m really confused. I thought you couldn’t use OBC from ncl giving at time of booking in the casino at all?! The above link is the NCL blog. NCL could claim the blog writer was mistaken or leaving out the fine print. I need to find someplace more "official". But it would seem that onboard credit is onboard credit. I'm not sure they can tell the difference how it got there.
Russ_MT Posted November 1, 2017 #34 Share Posted November 1, 2017 I just spoke with an NCL agent about onboard credit in the casino. He said, "No you can't do that. Where did you hear that?" Now the agent didn't instill confidence in me for many reasons, so I'm still searching for a definitive answer.
Run14 Posted November 1, 2017 #35 Share Posted November 1, 2017 On my cruise a few weeks ago I had $253 left on my account in OBC when I went to the casino. I took 200 out and saw, nearly immediately on the iConcierge app, that I had $47 left of OBC (200+3%)

Run14 Posted November 2, 2017 #37 Share Posted November 2, 2017 Where did the OBC originate? Was it part of your package or did you pre-load it? It was a mix of packages (promo at booking and shareholder bonus). All was non-refundable at time of casino play. We’ve never preloaded money to the room, we just put a credit card on it (gotta get the points!) Hope that’s helpful
scrim67 Posted November 6, 2019 #38 Share Posted November 6, 2019 I'm on ENCORE now and I have $100 non refundable OBC I'm wondering if I pay in the blackjack tournament of $20 using my sail and sign card will it apply against the OBC
Hrhbob Posted November 6, 2019 #39 Share Posted November 6, 2019 There was a thread on this some months ago, and I came away from it just as confused as I am now. I am cruising on Joy Dec 1-8 and have $250 NCL OBC which I intend to use in the casino. I will use $100 initially and then check my OBC account. I will find out ground truth and post it here upon return.
Russ_MT Posted November 6, 2019 #40 Share Posted November 6, 2019 We were on NCL Escape in 2017 and had $500 OBC. We went to a slot machine and were able to take the "cash" out easily using our cabin key card. It wasn't "cash". It's a ticket that you can go to the booth for cash. We didn't even have to play the machine. I hope this is still true. --Russ

The OBC is never applied to a specific transaction as it is applied to your overall stateroom account toward valid charges In this case there will be no service charge because it is a purchase not a cash advance such as in a slot machine Edited November 6, 2019 by esm54687
