micmacmissy Posted January 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Woo hoo! Just booked spring break 2017 on the Allure...kids are going to be so excited. TA knows little to nothing about the ship...so I turn to the REAL experts here on Cruise Critic. What can be booked ahead of time, and how far in advance? Does anyone know what shows are coming up? I know they've switched around their specialty restaurants...can anyone point me to a list of current ones? Does RCCL have anything similar to Celebrity's ultimate dining plan? My Time Dining on our last cruise (Independence) was excellent and efficient. Is it like that on Allure, or should we be prepared for long waits? (It was so bad on our last Celebrity cruise that we ate in specialty dining for 4 nights.) Anything else I should know/do to prepare? Thanks! Clarea Posted January 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2016 ... What can be booked ahead of time, and how far in advance?... You can book shows, dining times, excursions, specialty restaurants, spa, etc. ahead of time. All these items can open up at different times, so keep checking the website. Travelling2Some Posted January 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2016 Not sure when your spring break is but we are booked on Allure in April and all the reservations are open now. Just log into your Cruise Planner on Royal's website to make MTD, specialty restaurants, entertainment and activity reservations. Mama Mia is the current major show on Allure. I'm not familiar with Celebrity's dining plan and we have not sailed yet so I can't answer those questions.

SoccerMom#3 Posted January 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2016 Thanks. I forgot to ask: is there a lot of cigarette smoke odor? Is the casino smoke free? We were on Allure 2 weeks ago and had a wonderful time. Smoking is only allowed on one side of deck 15 and one side of deck 16 and part of the casino. We didn't go in the casino so I can't tell you what it was like inside the casino but we could smell cigarette smoke outside the casino. Overall we rarely smelled cigarette smoke. It was absolutely wonderful to not be overwhelmed with cigarette smoke. Certainly there was smoking on the ship but the smokers were quite polite and seemed to smoke only in designated areas. Clarea Posted January 27, 2016 #6 Share Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) Thanks. I forgot to ask: is there a lot of cigarette smoke odor? Is the casino smoke free? Oddly enough, the only place I smelled cigarette smoke (besides the casino) was in the fitness center. I've read it's because of a crew lounge nearby. cruislovin Posted January 28, 2016 #10 Share Posted January 28, 2016 We are booked on Allure in May. When will reservations open for dining and shows? Does final payment need to be made to book reservations?

Can you pre-purchase a dining package and set reservations in advance? I've read conflicting reports on that...
