Rare chemmo Posted February 1, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Has anyone experienced exactly what the complementary laundry recently introduced actually means? Is it just unlimited wash and fold or does it include pressing, dry cleaning....? I know a couple of people pre the introduction of this perk reported not being charged for laundry but is there an 'official' description of what is/is not included? emelle Posted February 1, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Recently on Celebrity in a RS and first time X cruiser, so not elite or anything like that. Had two sheets of "coupons" in the cabin. Among other things were at least 2 coupons for 1) up to 30 pieces of wash and fold laundry, 2) 2 coupons for two laundry and press items (read husband's dress shirts is how we used it) and 3) one piece of dry cleaning. I may have remembered the number of items you could send incorrectly, but that was the idea. Also on the coupon pages were 2 coupons for one scoop of gelato, things in the spa when the ship was in port and various things for the casino (none of which we used). I did not get the idea that the laundry was unlimited, but only sent one bag of 30 and a few dress shirts. This was also for a 7 day cruise. Love the unlimited laundry and dy cleaning perk on HAL suites! Although the 2 bags are nice I still need to pack more as compared to sending clothes out every day. Rare chemmo Posted February 1, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted February 1, 2016 It sounds like the Elite coupons we have had as Elite and have been previously been given to higher suite guests regardless of Captains Club status. I assume that they have now just listed the perk they have been giving for some time. We have laundry facilities in hotels pre and post cruise so we will be fine with the coupons! Thanks for your reply!
vedettes1 Posted February 1, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 1, 2016 I am not being snarky but I truly do not understand how people with the budget for a Royal or Penthouse Suite could be concerned with how much laundry they can get done for free. Rare David Kane Posted February 1, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 1, 2016 Just back from an RS on the Summit. Laundry was handled through the two sheets of Elite-level coupons which had 30 items each with the caveat that they could not be used within 3 days of disembarkation. Rare chemmo Posted February 1, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted February 1, 2016 I am not being snarky but I truly do not understand how people with the budget for a Royal or Penthouse Suite could be concerned with how much laundry they can get done for free. We have had Elite coupons now for several cruises. If we have needed extra items pressed etc. we have paid. One thing that has concerned us re suite life is the variation between ships and knowing what to expect/not to expect. It is simply nice to get on board knowing what is/is not included/what to expect/what not to expect. My question and responses were far more about what to expect than 'cost'. On a more serious note, many people travelling in a RS or a PH may have budgeted very carefully over months or years for a holiday of a lifetime. They may be travelling light and every item laundered could save on luggage costs....Some people may be aware they are near the end of their opportunities to travel world wide and are doing without many things to enjoy a little last taste of luxury.... Staying in a suite does not mean you are rich, have no need to watch costs....It simply means you have chosen a certain room type for reasons that suit you...No judgement necessary. LIKE We are retired and have no children. I have recently experienced some physical issues and want to cruise with a "little taste of luxury" while I can. This does not mean that we have unlimited funds for each cruise. It is good to know what to expect.

It is good to know what to expect. Thanks for your reply...Like you, also some physical issues. This next cruise will also be our first for nearly a year, I am becoming really cruise desperate now...I think for many of us raising our glasses first night to 'making it count....' is made from the heart. We often say we get three cruise experiences for every one booked. The anticipation, much improved with reading and posting on CC, the cruise experience itself and then the happy memories.....Sincere best wishes that your physical issues can be managed ChezMaryLou! Also thank you, David Kane, know what to expect now!
CHEZMARYLOU Posted February 2, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Thank you Chemmo. We will raise a glass to you on our March cruise and perhaps we will be lucky enough to cruse together someday. Enjoy your upcoming cruise, a year is a long time to wait.

Chicogirl Posted February 2, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 2, 2016 I am not being snarky but I truly do not understand how people with the budget for a Royal or Penthouse Suite could be concerned with how much laundry they can get done for free. I can't speak for others, but my trip coming up is a once in a life time trip for my husband and me. My youngest child is non-verbal autistic, and have no one near by to watch her. My parents offered to come to my home (they live in another state) so we can take this trip. My husband and I have not even spent one night without kids in 18 years, so we saved for this trip and I wanted it to be special. That is why I have the Royal suite. And so any thing to save money is helpful.
floatplan Posted February 2, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 2, 2016 I swear the new 2016 suite life enhancements listed simply "free laundry" for RS/PH which implied to me it was unlimited like most every other perk. The RS/PH fare includes everything but the gelato. Now on the website has changed to say "Complimentary laundry service twice per cruise" so that's the same perk it has always been with RS getting the Elite coupons. More Celebrity perks that don't really pan out.
LabGuy64 Posted February 2, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 2, 2016 People are people.....just because one has a bit more disposable income does not mean they just throw it away. unless you are VERY wealthy that is and even they can be thrifty in their own way. I retired recently after 34 years in special education and worked closely with so many parents like yourself. Just think of your first night of cruising... We tend to book Tuscan Grill. Imagine sitting by the window sipping a glass of red wine, taking your time to peruse the menu, watching the wake of the ship....feeling all your cares and responsibilities drift away...Have a perfect cruise! john_galt Posted February 2, 2016 #18 Share Posted February 2, 2016 We were in the PH on the Constellation in 2014 and the butler gladly had my suit pressed. Never saw a charge for it. And to answer the question earlier in the thread, I can afford the PH because I'm frugal. I watch what I spend so I can spend what I want.

Thanks for your reply! In September we received the "suite coupons" but didn't get our Elite plus ones, had to ask for those although I am sure that we didn't actually use any of them. In an S1 in 19 days, which does not get the comp laundry, but I can't remember from the last time we were in one if we received two lots of coupons. I guess it is academic as we only ever used the internet ones and occasionally the bag of wash, dry and fold and you don't need the actual coupon for the internet now. We have probably stopped doing that after the number of white items that changed colour in the wash - despite us separating it all out into different bags. Now we restrict what we send to dress shirts, as I never take enough to do 3 weeks, but I don't need to worry about that anymore. I have done that before with a little travel wash. Dri-fit stuff comes up great. Hand on balcony with Lakeland giant pages till dry. No ironing needed.
