vivalas Posted February 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2016 We are sailing on the Pride of America and I was reading the policy on bringing wine or champagne on board, do they really charge you to open your own bottle, even if you consume it in your own room? Rare KeithJenner Posted February 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Yes, they charge you on embarkation so they have no idea at that point where you will drink it.

Yes, going through security during debarkment, they ask if you have any wine. Pulled aside and taken to a table where they swipe your card and charge you for however many bottles you bring (plus they put a sticker on each bottle). I brought my own corkscrew as we like to have a glass of wine in our cabin. It does however allow you to bring a bottle to dinner and have them cork it for you. We actually had a bottle left over (because we had received a free bottle from guest services) so I got the corkage fee back on the last night. mjkacmom Posted February 2, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 2, 2016 Corkage fee is a service charge, not for opening your bottle, but to offset the loss of revenue of you not buying their bottles of wine.
