Rare Coral Posted October 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2005 I have a choice of 2 times for Acadia Park - 9:15 or 2:15. Which time would be better for taking pictures? Or does it not matter? I just don't want to be pointing the camera into the sun all the time or if there is a good chance of fog in the morning, the afternoon may be better? SailBadtheSinner Posted October 10, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2005 Here is a link to an MSN map of Mount Desert Isl. & Acadia National Park to reference: http://*****.com/8jga9 Assuming you are on a tour bus from Bar Harbor, you would start the tour on the Park Loop Road where it can be picked up just south of route 233 and head to the eastern side of the island and park. Since sections of the loop road are one way only, the tour can only go easterly from that point. So the tour will go east to the south end of the park and island then west to north. As you head north you will pass Eagle Lake and come to the access road to the top of Cadillac Mountain. By this time, the loop road is 2 way. At the top of Cadillac Mountain, you’ll have a view to the northeast (Bar Harbor), east, south and southwest – if weather permitting. Enjoy your cruise. SailBadtheSinner Posted October 10, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2005 The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. So, there is a chance that any pics you take on a morning tour on the east side of the park towards the water could be into the sun; but you do get an early sunrise on seacoast Maine. I would think that directly into the sun should not be a problem on either tour. SBtS
Jan_In_Maine Posted October 10, 2005 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2005 As of today (Monday) sunrise in Bar Harbor was at 6:41 (sunset is 5:57). I personally would go in the morning.
Afloat Posted October 10, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 10, 2005 Not to confuse the issue, but I would see Acadia National Park during an incoming tide. Thunder Hole is at its best and the waves at Sand Beach and along the coast would be at their highest.
