nicoleinwi Posted February 6, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2016 We are going to be doing the hike in a couple weeks. DH & I hike a lot. Should we bring our hiking boots on this trip or not needed? I hate to take up the extra room for the big hiking boots, but if it's needed, that's what we'll do. I was thinking we'd wear our Keens like this but maybe that's not a good idea? That way we could have these for other excursions. https://i.keenfootwear.com/images.ashx?t=product&i=510230_poseidoncapri_3q.jpg&w=500&h=333&q=90 Thanks! the_dylaness Posted October 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 17, 2016 I realize the OP has probably already sailed, but I found this thread when looking for something else and I just had to say: I did this hike in 2008 and am hoping to do it again in 2018. I wore hiking boots as did DH. We remarked MULTIPLE times how happy we were that we weren't the other people in sneakers, keds, sandals.... not sure if anyone had on keens but I definitely will be wearing hiking boots again. Want2Cruise 701 Posted October 26, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 26, 2016 I am wearing those exact Keens for the volcano hike in December. I also wore them hiking in St. Lucia, Dominica and Grenada and they worked out fine.
BNL62 Posted October 31, 2016 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2016 DH and I wore our Keens and we had no issues with them. They are more than adequate. We were covered in mud returning to the ship but our feet were very happy.
touesns Posted November 6, 2016 #6 Share Posted November 6, 2016 DH and I have done this hike twice and both times we wore our track (gym) shoes. The second time it was raining in the early morning and so the ground was a bit wet. Both times we had no issues. It is a very tough climb, but we enjoyed it each time! Well worth the sweat! :):)
