sweetpee_1993 Posted February 15, 2016 #51 Share Posted February 15, 2016 I (female) do every last bit of vacation...everything. The video is a typical Putbull video. It doesn't bother me that it's used as a promotional video for NCL. If young guys are booking cruises based on the assumption that it will be overrun with beautiful, string-bikini clad women, well, a fool and his money are soon parted. LIIIIIIIIKE!!!!!! Me, the missus, handles all the work. I get his input but I do the work. He brings home the bacon. I coordinate life around that.
Quilting_Cruiser Posted February 15, 2016 #52 Share Posted February 15, 2016 OMG - some of the best vacations we've had were in our RV. We've been all over the United States except for Hawaii… And if they would build a road so we could drive there we would have gone there also! The United States is a beautiful place to see and visit. Our best time was leaving Philadelphia going all through Canada and driving through Alaska putting the RV on a ferry through the inside passage to come back to Canada it was in almost 2 1/2 month trip with my then three-month-old two-year-old and four-year-old. I know this is off-topic but seeing the Grand Canyon, White Sands, Niagara Falls driving through California to see in the redwoods and every state in between was just fantastic. Harriet I'm glad you enjoyed it! But, it's not for me. RVing holds absolutely no appeal whatsoever. I enjoy a good road trip, but I'm not going to do it in an RV. :p
Starflyr3 Posted February 15, 2016 #53 Share Posted February 15, 2016 Ditto....if I left it up to my husband we would never leave the backyard:rolleyes: ^^^ that. If I don't plan vacations, we won't take any. Unless it's maybe camping, which I HATE.
How much longer? Posted February 15, 2016 #54 Share Posted February 15, 2016 me (female). My husband usually asks me what ship we are on and where are we going after we get off the plane and are heading to the port.
wmwmarmstrong Posted February 15, 2016 #55 Share Posted February 15, 2016 Me - sometimes I don't even consult my husband. Here too! Sometimes I plan a cruise with my adult children and he doesn't know until he hears us talk about it. Obviously it is not a big deal to him. Quilting_Cruiser Posted February 15, 2016 #57 Share Posted February 15, 2016 Lol. I'm with you. You couldn't pay me enough to go camping. I don't understand the concept. Why would I want to go out and live worse than I normally do? LOL.
Sparkygirl Posted February 15, 2016 #58 Share Posted February 15, 2016 I have not seen the commercial yet but, we discuss what we want to do and where we want to go and then I do the planning for all our vacations, cruise, RV, land, etc. We make a final decision and I do all the bookings, etc. DH shows up when I tell him and has a great time...this system works great for our household and has for the past 23 years! :) This is my husband and I! I am the planner, he is go with the flow Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Starflyr3 Posted February 15, 2016 #59 Share Posted February 15, 2016 I don't understand the concept. Why would I want to go out and live worse than I normally do? LOL. YES!!!!!!! OMG YES! And he only likes tent camping. 1) it's HOT round here (tx), I can't sleep while sweaty. And I have some fairly major back problems, and my back makes it clear that sleeping on the ground is NOT OK. 2) I have to cook - over a campfire, no less (really???) 3) the restrooms are half a mile away, and I have to share them with 200 other people (EW) 4) constant vigilance with the children regarding snakes, lake, poisonous plants, etc 5). red212fire212 Posted February 15, 2016 #61 Share Posted February 15, 2016 I (female) do all the holiday planning and booking in my house (married, no kids) and do it all for many of our friends too... US hol for 6 of us last year, Epic in 9 days for 10, Spain for 8 of us in June!! I am lucky that my work involves me sat on a switchboard, mostly twiddling my thumbs with only a pc as entertainment (netflix won't work on new pc :-( ) so i spend many hours finding the best flights, hotels, transfers etc oh and of course cruises now! Only said at the weekend that if I changed jobs and had to actually 'work' while at work they would be booking their own, while I enjoy playing travel agent, It helps that I am being paid to do it at work lol They do apprieciate me doing it for them, They pay me in vodka!!!!! Rare sparks1093 Posted February 15, 2016 #62 Share Posted February 15, 2016 Since we have the thread with Pitbulls new commercial I am curious to know if the male or the female in everyones homes handle the NCL bookings. I want to see if they are marketing to the correct demographic. We aren't much swayed by marketing so it's moot.
beerman2 Posted February 15, 2016 #63 Share Posted February 15, 2016 I ( BeerMAN ) do all the travel arrangements. DW only gives input to places she would like to go. I think once in our 38 yrs. of marriage has she actually planned a vacation. And yes I am the only one on CC. She is getting better at checking things out for our upcoming cruise on the Escape though. Terry
my_crib_too Posted February 15, 2016 #64 Share Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) Wife (25 years) agrees on a general concept on where to go on vacation. I handle everything else. All she needs to do is pack, take care of the pets, and show-up on the day we are leaving. Works great. One other thing she does, that I love, is she does not complain if something is not great. Poor hotel, lousy port or excursion experience, she just rolls with it. She is happy to be on vacation and appreciates my efforts even if occasionally a vacation experience does not work out perfectly. I remember one hotel in Fort Lauderdale, just off the beach that had nothing but positive reviews. We wanted to stay a few nights after five days at Disney. Disney was perfect and when we arrived in Fort Lauderdale, we were both sick with colds and it started to rain. Hotel was a real dump, the manager was on the trip adviser site entering shill reviews when we entered the hotel office. We stayed two nights and it never stopped raining. Beds were hard as rocks and the room was so old. The view out our back window (second floor) was of 10-15 naked 50+ men in their pool, having a party in the rain. My wife never complained once and enjoys telling this story. Her story is a lot funnier than the actual experience was. jackparts Posted February 15, 2016 #66 Share Posted February 15, 2016 (edited) Up until 2013, I did everything, including paying for everything. I tried using a TA in 2014 and 2015 with disastrous results and now for 2016 on the Damn Dawn again, I will do it all myself including still paying for it all. I am looking for anyone who would like to help with the payments so please message me with the dollar amount you would like to contribute. If I get too much in $$, I will put the extra towards our 2017 cruise on the Carnival Fascination.:D:D JK!!! I want to see if they are marketing to the correct demographic. This is pitbulls actual music video. Not an ncl commercial. The commercial is much more activity focused around the ship. Free to whatever. This is a typical pitbull video
Rare melodyesch Posted February 15, 2016 #68 Share Posted February 15, 2016 I (female) do the actual planning. DH and I decide where to go for land vacations but for cruises, I just throw out a few options that coincide with where we might want to spend a few days pre-cruise. Then we choose and I arrange everything. However, if I were married to a woman, I would still want it that way. I love the planning.
thatjoeguy Posted February 16, 2016 #69 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Could I suggest that the OP changes "the male or the female" to "a male or a female" so that others like Turtles06 are not offended. Mike I think the problem is that even though I (male) do the cruise planning, neither my husband nor I terribly enjoy bikini-clad women.
Thecat3902 Posted February 16, 2016 #70 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Me (the mom and wife) does the planning. I find deals talk it over with the hubby and then we get the kids input. I look for deals whether by land or sea. Since we started cruising with our kids it has been their vacation of choice.
