ottmar Posted February 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2016 We are on the Ruby to Hawaii on March 24 for 15 days from LA. How is the time handled on this trip while going through the time zones? When do I have to reset my watch and by how much, and when using my rented car what time do I use in Hawaii to make sure I get back to the ship? And on the return trip to make my connections after disembarkation. Please enlighten me.
Roatanfans Posted February 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Every few days there will be a 1 hour time change both to and from Hawaii so you have lots of time to slowly adjust to the time difference both ways!
Pam in CA Posted February 16, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2016 (edited) As the ship sails through one time zone to another, the ship's clock will change one hour at a time, either forward or back. There'll be a notice in the Princess Patter 24 hours before and the night of a time change, a card will be placed on your bed reminding you to change your clock/watch. The phone's display in your cabin will have the correct time as will the TV. Once in Hawaii, you'll be on local time. Rare cr8tiv1 Posted February 16, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Your cruise will start after Daylight Saving Time kicks in (the weekend before). Therefore, there will be 6 clock changes. 3 going over and 3 coming back. Hawaii does not participate in this is archaic (sorry for the bias) practice. You will miss those 3 hours on your return half.
jennybenny Posted February 16, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2016 I remember feeling like our Hawaii cruise had a lot of time changes, but they keep you posted with the Patter. Once in Hawaii you are on that time for the 4 days you are there and then back to adding back an hour at a time. It's not as bad as it sounds. :)

Did this cruise on the Ruby in April and it was wonderful.
paul929207 Posted February 16, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Check the Princess Patter each evening for any time change announcement. It is in the bottom right hand corner.
RetiredNTraveling Posted February 16, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2016 . . . BLUSHING . . . ar1950 Posted February 16, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2016 Check the Princess Patter each evening for any time change announcement. It is in the bottom right hand corner. Or on the bottom left. That's where it was on our Ruby Hawaii cruise last month.
