Warnemunde to Berlin

Hi there

 

Has anyone has any experience of public transport from Warnemunde to Berlin?

 

We are going on the Celebrity Eclipse out of Southampton on 14 August and will be in Warnemunde on Tuesday 23 August docking about 9:30. We want to go to Berlin for the day but don't want to pay over £100 per person for the ship's coach so i wondered how easy the train would be.

It's not something I've looked into in great detail, but from my limited research, the consensus seems to be that getting to Berlin and back using normal train schedules is a challenge, and probably best avoided.

We used SPB tours. They did a good job. We had about six hours in Berlin.

Hi Paul,

Keith is absolutely right. Given your ship's time of arrival it would be impossible to get to Berlin by train much before 2pm and you would have to leave again about 6:45pm to make your on-board time.

I'm afraid that the schedule of this line, late arrival and departure, is not very convenient for anyone wanting to go beyond the local area except on an organised tour and even then you would only have half the day and part of the evening in Berlin.

Have you looked into the private companies highly recommended on these pages by other cruisers? They also offer tours in other ports with discounts for several tours booked together.

We used SPB tours. They did a good job. We had about six hours in Berlin.

 

We used SPB tours last summer and were happy with the job they did. Cannot tell you how hard it rained on the way back to port. The driver had to take a detour and received a standing ovation when we arrived. Do not that your driver does not speak English. You do not meet your guide until you arrive in Berlin.
