ChucktownSteve Posted February 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2016 I disembarked the Constellation on February 25. OMG. My refundable OBC hit my credit card the SAME day as debarkation! I had no idea it was that fast. Speaking of OBC, as many know, you can't take out the non-refundable OBC in the casino for CASH plus 5% any more. They make you load your card for the slots or give you promo chips to play on the gaming tables. Well after buying liquor with the OBN, I still had $52.42 left. So I went to the casino cage and got $50 in promo chips thinking they'd charge me 5% which would have totaled $52.50 with $0.08 coming from my refundable OBC. But they didn't charge the fee. They only deducted $50 of the OBN. So I only forfeited $2.42 unused OBN. Oh BTW, those $50 promo chips returned $40 real cash. :D
az_tchr Posted February 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Glad everything worked out well for you. Have seen any OBC-R refunded to my card usually either the first or second day after the cruise ended. The ships close their books the afternoon a cruise ends before new passengers board so it must be really fast.
Aldeya Posted February 26, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 26, 2016 We got OBCs from Celebrity and from TA. Which OBCs are considered refundable and which non? Thanks.
ChucktownSteve Posted February 26, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted February 26, 2016 We got OBCs from Celebrity and from TA. Which OBCs are considered refundable and which non? Thanks. Celebrity OBC is non refundable and is indicated on your cabin TV account as OBN. TA OBC is refundable and is indicated as OBR. They draw down the OBN first then hit the OBR. Any non used OBR is refunded to the credit card you linked to your cruise.
JohnBoy in NC Posted February 26, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2016 We got OBCs from Celebrity and from TA. Which OBCs are considered refundable and which non? Thanks. Celebrity OBC as part of the promos is non-refundable. TA OBC is usually all refundable...but not always 100%. Last cruise most of my TA OBC was refundable but a piece of it was listed as non-refundable.

ChucktownSteve Posted February 26, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Here's another thought...when your TA offers you OBC make sure to ask them if it's coming from them or a pass through from the cruise line. If it's a pass through, it will be non refundable. If it's actually from your TA it should be refundable. Sometimes a TA might act as if it's coming from them when it's not. norwegianwood57 Posted February 26, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2016 That must just be on Celeb, we just cashed in all of our OBN in casino for the 5%. A dollar was left and it was credited to our account, making me think maybe they would have credited all of it, but how to know. It was definitely OBN, not OBC. PRH Posted February 26, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 26, 2016 Ours was credited to our credit card within 12 hours of leaving the ship.
LabGuy64 Posted February 26, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) if you got back 40 it really cost you 20%....if you just wanted to get the money ...a slightly risky way to get it all would be to play roulette and bet red and black. you could lose it all if it came up 0...do they have 00 on the cruise ships?..(I don't play roulette). But, you would get the whole amount I disembarked the Constellation on February 25. OMG. My refundable OBC hit my credit card the SAME day as debarkation! I had no idea it was that fast. But, you would get the whole amount I played the boxes so I was having fun. It was the first time I tried roulette except for our roll call roulette "pull." Playing red or black, odd or even could win or lose too. but it was only a 1=1 instead of 1=2 on a hit for the way I played. Since it was OBN, I figured any cash I got was more than I would have gotten. I didn't want the T-shirts. :D

ChucktownSteve Posted February 27, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted February 27, 2016 Yes, they have "0" and "00". ;) Constellation had two tables. one with the 0 and 00. The European table only had the 0. So that one is a little better odds.
travelpeon Posted February 27, 2016 #14 Share Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) I really appreciate that Celebrity/Royal is so efficient at returning the onboard credit. NCL mailed me a check (even though they had my CC # for incidentals) and took a few weeks to do so. You never know how good you have it until you try something else and dislike it.
