bigbenboys Posted February 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2016 I did do some looking under the search option. We have $850 in non-refundable OBC. We have the Best package [all 4 perks]. Can I spend some of the OBC on a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue?
riredsox Posted February 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 27, 2016 Yes, anything you purchase onboard will come out of your OBC! Enjoy the JW Blue I love it!:D
Sandtrap328 Posted February 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2016 No problem in buying that Scotch with OBC. Don't plan on having it in your cabin, though. All on-board liquor store purchases are delivered just before disembarking.

helen haywood Posted February 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2016 Just a heads up that Celebrity no longer provides the cardboard boxes to carry/transport your alcohol purchases. (Really chintz cutback as Carnival still does!) Anyway, bring some bubble wrap or such to protect it.

I was led to believe that none of the stores were owned or operated by Celebrity, but instead the retail space was leased out.
Sandtrap328 Posted February 27, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2016 The bubble wrap is a great idea - many layers of it for that precious bottle! If you are flying, it will have to go into checked luggage. Oh, that would be so tempting for a TSA agent doing baggage checks.
Constance331 Posted February 27, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 27, 2016 (edited) If you should want to consume that JW in your room, order it from Guest Relations. You will be charged the regular price (not the duty-free rate). It will be delivered to your cabin right away. And can be opened immediately for you to enjoy. I do this all the time with Dewars 12. The charge for the Dewars liter bottle is around $95. Worth it to me, as I like a couple of drinks every night on the balcony and while dressing for dinner--(also late at night), and don't care to have to run to a bar. I do have a drink package as well but, as you may know, those packages don't work for room service. Don't know how much Blue would be, but I'm sure that Your OBC will be more than enough to cover the cost...:D Edited February 27, 2016 by Constance331

And to come prepared. And that I was surprised other lines are still giving you your liquor purchases in the carrier box.

Well, you did say that "Celebrity no longer provides the cardboard boxes to carry/transport your alcohol purchases", ergo the cutback would logically be theirs. In any event, I agree totally that it's an unfortunate bit of penny pinching and that people should come prepared. :)
helen haywood Posted February 27, 2016 #11 Share Posted February 27, 2016 Mea culpa. Should have said "On Celebrity, cardboard boxes are no longer provided."
