Windsailer Posted February 29, 2016 #2 Share Posted February 29, 2016 Hello: I would appreciate any info you may have re: these type of balconies, i.e. pros and cons. Thanks for your help We actually choose cabins that have the steel railings. There is much more privacy when you're docked at a port and the balconies are larger. Krazy Kruizers Posted February 29, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 29, 2016 When sitting, most people can't see over the steel railings.

Windsailer Posted February 29, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 29, 2016 How do you know which rooms have a steel railing? 4001 to 4041 on the Westerdam. The one time we had a cabin with plexiglass - it was so covered in sea salt we couldn't see through it.

So you can sit out there and not roast. Of course if you like to roast... Dan

Rare Banditswife Posted March 1, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 1, 2016 We have a steel railing on our upcoming cruise. We are okay with it. We've sailed CCL's Dream & Breeze & always booked what they call "cove" balconies. They are lower on the ship & are built into the hull of the ship. We would choose this type room over an upper deck anytime. Like someone else said- more privacy, less sun, & we like the proximity to the water.
