susanpayne Posted March 2, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2016 Most tours in Florence are either of the city of Florence or Florence and Pisa. We are looking to do Florence and part of the Tuscan countryside or maybe a small town with a winery and wine tasting. Does anyone know the best way to find such a tour? Thanks
Rare dronnygirl Posted March 2, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2016 We were in Livorno last September and didn't really want to visit Florence so we left the ship early and took the train to Lucca - the train changes in Pisa Central. The train station in Lucca is just across the road from the city walls and we just wandered around the town for a while and climbed up some of the towers for the views. We had lunch at one of the lovely cafes in the amphitheatre square - it was so peaceful and enjoyable. We then walked along the walls back to the station. As it was only mid afternoon and our ship didn't sail until late, we stopped off at Pisa on the way back and had a couple of hours sightseeing. There is a train from Lucca to Pisa that stops at the station before Pisa Central and is only a few minutes from the Field of Miracles so very handy. We had a lovely day out and would recommend it. The train was approximately £20 for the 2 of us.
CruiserBruce Posted March 2, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2016 (edited) As commonly recommended here, the wonderful Rome in Limo. They will customize the tour to your desires. Did a great Tuscan winery tour with them in June 2014. Edited March 2, 2016 by CruiserBruce
-Lew- Posted March 2, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2016 I don't see that you've posted on the roll call for your cruise. That's where I would start looking for private tours to join...or post your interest to see of others are interested in joining you.
