CruisermanVA Posted March 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2016 Thanks for the fun poem, Belle. Your emphasis on the word BEER resonated with me. I enjoy having a couple of beers each day but I know it's slowing down my weight loss. I did manage to lose another pound this week - down to 212 (14 pounds total) but I'm disappointed that I didn't lose more. I could give up drinking altogether (which would be very tough) or switch to something else. Whiskey? Wine? If anyone has any suggestions I'd be glad to hear them. shootr Posted March 17, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2016 Good morning everyone! Wow - nice start to the thread Belle - Love it!!! I'm extremely fortunate that I can, for beer (and other "adult beverages") anyways, take 'em or leave 'em. I really enjoy them but like you, I wonder if it is worth the calories that day or not. There's been a giant can of Coors Light sitting in the fridge staring at me - but 'eh, maybe this weekend :-). This past week was a beer a day, and a couple gin and tonics thrown in for good measure. Must not have been too tragic - after my few days of "normalizing" I'm at 181 this morning, up 2 from before leaving on vacation. Not going to cry about it because as CruisermanVA said, gotta enjoy vacation and take the good with the not so good. Personally, I don't see a whole lot of bad in 1-2 beers a day when the rest of the day is decent eating, some good activity, etc. It's the offsets/tradeoffs that make staying on a course like ours tolerable IMO. I already know Saturday will be looooong because I'm helping the daughters Color Guard team at their competition (setting up, packing, driving, unpacking, etc...). Now I'm trying to decide if I really want to drop $110 on the local charity ride April 2nd. I've practiced the route a couple times this winter and know I can do it, but the entry is kind of ridiculous so I doubt it. Hope everyone has a good week - talk to you soon! violetmoon1979 Posted March 17, 2016 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2016 Hey everybody! Love the weekly poems, I don't know how you do it, I don't have a creative bone in my body. I lost 800 grams this week, for a total of 9.3 kilos. That's about 20 pounds. My goal is to lost another 18.7 kilos (40 pounds) before November. 1/3 of the way there with 7 1/2 months to go! I did horrible on St. Patrick's Day, I got together with some girlfriends and went to an irish pub..... Then we went to the casino.............. :o Anyway, I had to dip into my weeklies. LOL :p Isabel

winewanderer Posted March 22, 2016 #9 Share Posted March 22, 2016 HI There, Belle, hubby and I are still working on selling his remaining inventory. Actually we signed a lease for a place 5 minutes from our house. We have to move out of the upstairs warehouse in the building we own so our tenant can take it over. We were hoping to move before our trip but found out today the space won't be ready until we get back. We will have 10 days to move when we get back at the end of May. Told hubby that at least we won't be all stressed to get the move done before our trip. We can use that time to prepare though: take racks apart, pack up. Thanks for asking. Have a feeling we'll be selling stuff for the next 5 years........ Hope everyone is having a good week. Diana

retiring soon Posted March 22, 2016 #11 Share Posted March 22, 2016 HI all! Belle ~ pot roast sounds good too! I haven't learned that lesson of not bringing bad things home yet.:o I am getting pretty disgusted with my belly rolls but seemingly not enough to do something about it. Anybody ever heard, or tried the 5:2 way of eating? Have a nice day. I have a lot of running around to do & a movie to catch. ~ Jo ~ :)
shootr Posted March 23, 2016 #12 Share Posted March 23, 2016 Another weak weekend. Did ok on Saturday with eating and helped my daughters color guard team to burn some calories, but then Sunday ate too much again. Getting walks in every night now, decided to bug the missus until she joined me (when not working) even though it makes her less than thrilled with me. She appreciates after the fact though. 400 straight days of tracking - still helps me to refocus when I stray a bit.
