crusinpsychRN Posted April 1, 2016 #26 Share Posted April 1, 2016 I booked a balcony guarantee for my 25th cruise. Just received my cabin assignment. Its an obstructed view balcony. Well that's a disappointing start. Call and see if you can change.
kkaren Posted April 1, 2016 Author #27 Share Posted April 1, 2016 Call and see if you can change. Just tried. No luck. I have to pay more for a balcony that's not obstructed. Even mentioning that I have 3 back-to-backs booked on the Vista didn't help.

So you are saying that everyone who books a guarantee will automatically be given the lowest possible category available cabin that they paid for? mississauga Posted April 1, 2016 #30 Share Posted April 1, 2016 I booked a balcony guarantee for my 25th cruise. Just received my cabin assignment. Its an obstructed view balcony. Well that's a disappointing start. We have had obstructed view balconies before. The only thing different was we could not look down into the water. Our view looking out was not obstructed at all. When taking photos, I held my camera a bit higher than usual and looking at them, you cannot tell they were taken from an obstructed balcony. For the difference in price, we thought it was well worth it.
AFuncruiser Posted April 1, 2016 #31 Share Posted April 1, 2016 You need to edit your profile and take that handful of cruises off. Nobody cares you have cruised a few times and it's annoying trying to read messages to have to scroll through that nonsense. I have turned off that option but many others have to suffer. If you need help just message me and I can walk you through how to edit your profile. I have ran message boards for years. It's very easy to do. Happy Easter! Why you actually sounded a tad jealous.. :) Dennis Jacksonville, Fl 567 days at sea 64cruises 12 cruise lines T/P, T/A, Hawaii, Central & South America, New Zealand & South Pacific, Rio/ Amazon, Alaska

So you are saying that everyone who books a guarantee will automatically be given the lowest possible category available cabin that they paid for? No. Just commenting on the fact that you were shocked that you'd have to pay the difference from a 7A to an (at least) 8A. But when booking a guarantee that's the chance you take. Now, I wouldn't have expected a charge if you wanted to switch to another 7A. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

But as its my Milestone, I think they at least could have given me a regular balcony. I'm not asking for a suite for my balcony guarantee. I wasn't shocked at what happened. I just tried what one previous poster suggested.

Even though your milestone shows on your card and if you are not Diamond yet and you get a different color card, Carnival really does nothing special for you on your 25th Milestone cruise. As I posted before, no one acknowledged our 25th cruise. Sorry you had higher expectations for your 25th cruise. Other than the notation on your card and the 25% OBC you will get for achieving that milestone, you will not be given any other treatment or consideration. NCTribeFan Posted April 2, 2016 #35 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Well, I think it would be nice if Carnival would upgrade us (4 women) on the Vista Inaugural since it's my 25th. One of those Family Cove Suites would be nice. But it isn't going to happen. Upgrades only happen to other people. But, hey, I got my Milestone letter yesterday, exactly 4 months after #24 and 1 month before #25. Again, not going to use it next month but at least now I have the letter in hand and know they're aware of my upcoming 25th. I am ready to move on to other lines, though. Never really had any interest in NCL but my travel companion loves them, so I'll give them a try and see what I think. Going to try Celebrity, too. Even looking forward to another HAL cruise. kkaren Posted April 2, 2016 Author #36 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Thank you for your replies. I really think Carnival should change their FAQ Milestone Page though.
SadieN Posted April 2, 2016 #37 Share Posted April 2, 2016 On our exact Milestone cruise Mom and I got hardly any recognition except from the port guys in Ensenada. They had never seen white cards before, lol. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Rare Jamman54 Posted April 2, 2016 #38 Share Posted April 2, 2016 Thank you for your replies. I really think Carnival should change their FAQ Milestone Page though. Sorry that you expected more for your milestone. When I hit 50 sometime in the next few years, I'll expect a "50" on my white sail & sign card, and a 50% OBC on the cruise rate of the cruise of my choice, nothing more, nothing less. When you reach Diamond, you will get a one time free upgrade. You must be getting somewhat close to that. My wife's next cruise will be her 25th Milestone cruise, and she says she'll just be happy to have a white card for once. :)
SadieN Posted April 2, 2016 #39 Share Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) Thank you for your replies. I really think Carnival should change their FAQ Milestone Page though. AFuncruiser Posted April 2, 2016 #40 Share Posted April 2, 2016 My 25 Milestone card came as a complete delightful surprise when I checked in for my last cruise a couple weeks ago.. I had to ask an officer about it.. Dennis Jacksonville, Fl
Rare Wanna_Cruize Posted April 2, 2016 #41 Share Posted April 2, 2016
We completed our 24th cruise in January and haven't received any letter. I called and was told that a note was being made on our booking for July and that the OBC will be applied a few days before the cruise.
Rich, You don't have to use the 25% fare OBC on the actual Milestone cruise, you can decide whatever cruise you want to apply it to. I believe you have up to 2 years to use it, but some say there is no actual expiration for it. On the actual Milestone cruise, you just get the special card. We are definitely saving our milestone OBC credit for a different cruise, as our 25th one is a casino rate that we only paid to upgrade to a balcony.
