Rare momofmab Posted March 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 24, 2016 I've seen conflicting reports. Our sailing leaves Saturday and I am in full-on packing mode! We are in a Penthouse and I'm wondering if I need to bring European conversion plugs in order to use my hair dryer in the bathroom. If so, which type of plug? My daughter has some from her semester abroad and was hoping not to bring the whole pack ;) Thanks in advance!

chengkp75 Posted March 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2016 From those photos, it appears that all the outlets are Australian 220v outlets. You will have to check that your hair dryer is dual voltage (100-240v) or you will need a transformer of the appropriate wattage to handle the dryer. You will also need a US to Australian plug adapter. (I'm assuming you're from the US?)
JohnIreland Posted March 24, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Watch how powerful the hairdryer is. The spirit has older electrics (was also designed for asia) so a modern powerful hairdryer can blow the circuit breaker.
Rare momofmab Posted March 24, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted March 24, 2016 Thank you for the picture! Are the 2 on the right, American plugs?
Rare momofmab Posted March 24, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted March 24, 2016 I do have an Australian converter plug, if that's what those are. WYTinmann - what do you have plugged in in the picture? Is it the hairdryer NCL provides?

Is it the hairdryer NCL provides? No, that's an step down converter. 220 in 110 out. I don't know how it is wired into the room. Each room has one. I didn't take a picture of the sink area. In the first picture I posted, on the left side beyond the far drinking glass you will see a hose. That is the NCL hair dryer. (I think). Guy thing, I didn't use it so I don't really remember. Rare momofmab Posted April 2, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted April 2, 2016 An update for anyone wondering... They DO have 2 American outlets in the penthouse bathroom. No extension cord required! I had no issues using my 1875 watt hairdryer!
