Laney219 Posted March 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted March 27, 2016 The list of Meet and Mingle parties does not seem be getting updated with the location and times. Only a couple of ships have locations and times listed in the next 4 weeks. Is this something Royal updates directly? Someone at CC does with the info from RCI? Just wanted to confirm upcoming sailing. I know there have been reports of people not receiving their invite in their cabin. pharaoh Posted March 27, 2016 #2 Share Posted March 27, 2016 I am not positive, but I read that the list is updated by the cruise director's staff on each ship. Looks like whomever is handling it on Oasis is doing a good job but everyone else seems to be falling by the wayside.

Disappointing too.
LilBlackDress Posted March 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted March 27, 2016 On our Grandeur cruise it was listed as one venue, when we got our invitation it had a different location listed... some late joiners didn't get an invite so missed out on all we had planned after. I have tried getting info thru the email contact, that didn't go very well either.

golfpccc Posted March 27, 2016 #6 Share Posted March 27, 2016 I never go by what is listed on Cruise Critic, more times then not, the time is incorrect. Usually it is held in the same location each week, only the time changes. If you don't receive your invitation check with Guest Services. Cigar King Posted March 27, 2016 #7 Share Posted March 27, 2016 (edited) I am seriously considering skipping the formal parties for the informal ones. (I see you smiling) The formal parties are becoming little more than people showing up for a cheesy free gift and a chance at winning something in a drawing. There's very little meeting and mingling going on. Some of the staff do more to encourage the group to mingle, but most do not. I seriously think they would be better if Royal did nothing other than provided a venue to meet. The informal events are much more enjoyable, IMHO. I suspect this is because those that attend come with the intention of mingling. I love seeing the lengths some people go to at these events. Beads and such, make for a party. The problem is you don't know what you'll miss if you don't attend. Just my two revenue units. BTW - I also just go by the invite in my room. I'd guess it's more common than not that we never see the official list prior to the cruise. Edited March 27, 2016 by Cigar King

Laney219 Posted March 27, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Thank you all for your replies. I have been been one to not receive an in-room invite, hence the question. I'll go to GS if that happens again. Happy seas.
xxoocruiser Posted March 27, 2016 #10 Share Posted March 27, 2016 Believe that cruises with internaries of 6 days or less to not have an official Meet & Mingle hosted by RCCL despite the fact that the cruise may be shown on the list. At least that's what I was told this past February regarding my 6 day cruise on the Navigator.

(Link for reference) http://www.royalcaribbean.com/ccConfirmedPartyList.do?sortBy=byDate&src=CCC That list is supposedly for CONFIRMED events. i.e. they have met the minimum numbers. I am quite surprised by the CD staff on Adventure, none have a date/time. On our sailing on Adventure, the staff did a great job and everyone who had attended the m&m were even treated to a CC luncheon, three courses and wine, later in the cruise. LilBlackDress Posted March 28, 2016 #12 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Do you recall where and when your party was on Grandeur? What was originally listed? Sorry for the late reply. It was listed as Viking Crown and the invite was to South Pacific Lounge. I was disappointed with the M&M for GOS. We were a couple mins late and they already had a mic making the rounds to announce name/screen name at the end they asked if anyone was missed (me and 2 other people were missed). They brought us the mic and then they called out the 5 or so numbers for the raffle... I thought we would be able to stay for a bit and mingle but not so much. They gave us less than 10 mins to leave the lounge for an upcoming art auction... We had a plan to meet in the casino by the bar for a slot pull and then from there a cabin crawl. If it wasn't for those extra activities that WE did as a group, I coulda easily skipped the M&M. I have been to much better M&Ms.... I would agree with Bob and Cigar King, Just give us a venue for an hour or 2 depending on the size and let us host ourselves. IF they want to raffle off something come in about 15 mins before its over.

Carla On a few occasions Guest Services will look at you like you have two heads. I did get a call from the Groups Coorinator on Allure at 11:30pm the night before telling me her printer was broken and she let me know what the time was. I would have been really sad to miss the best M&M ever, though I knew when it was, unlike Freedom when it was moved up 30 minutes and I didn't know. (side effect of pier upgrade. birdylady Posted March 28, 2016 #14 Share Posted March 28, 2016 Fyunny you should post this. I've been waiting for our upcoming cruise to have it's M&M posted. As of today, only the cruise this Saturday is listed (we're the following week). Talk about not trusting it. The sail date is 4/2 and they have the M&M scheduled for sail away day at 11AM. LOL Guess I'll hope for an invite in my cabin and if not, 'guess' based on a few of the recent cruise reviews. Erika

Unfortunately many people only mingle with their friends or family I guess they are the only ones they can feel safe with LOL. I still usually go but sometimes realize it in not for US and we just quietly leave. I could add a few stories but why.

There's very little meeting and mingling going on. Absolutely true. I've seen people leaving the venue right after the last number from the drawing is pulled, they don't even wait for the CD to finish his farewell. Total lack of respect. The M&M is nice to get 'freebies' from RCI, but it ultimately depends on who's on the CC M&M group. It's always nice to have an active, social group. Makes the cruise fun and at the M&M you get to finally meet these people. As far as why to tell stories? Cause I'm sure they're good ones. :D Erika
