Looking for experiences with bring golf clubs on a cruise.

I am looking for people who have actually brought their own clubs with them on a cruise. Did Princess stow them for you when you didn't need them? Did they bring them up when requested for a port day?? Thank you very much if you have actually done this...

No personal experience with this.

On our last cruise, on the Royal, we saw people carrying their clubs from their cabin in St. Thomas. A few minutes later we saw them walking across the pier with them.

Based on this I would say that Princess does not store them. You would have to find room in your cabin for them.

You store your clubs in your room, you clean your clubs and shoes not your cabin steward. Recommend carrying them on yourself at embarkation and debarkation as well as off/on in ports.

Recommend cleaning shoes and clubs at course if possible so don't bring back on ship or room. sandipalms

Everything else is kept in your cabin for the cruise. Not sure golf clubs would be an exception. Do you have a reason to believe they will keep clubs for you?

Well yes, they used to stow our luggage for us (outside the cabin) then bring them back the day prior to "packing" day.

So, if we don't use the clubs for the duration of the cruise, might they store them? Scratching your head at this?? Well, we plan to fly from Hawaii (with our clubs) to Sydney, then cruise home.....Kind of hate to have them in our cabin the whole time (if we choose not use them), but we have to get them from Hawaii back to the mainland. (They would take up a bit of room in the closet...) Our other option is to pick them up when we are back in Honolulu for a port stop...haul them on then...

I'm obviously not connecting with anyone who has actually done this, but I do appreciate all your comments and suggestions.

What has Princess told you? I know they require that handicap chairs must fit in room. Bicycles must fit in room for storage As well as all luggage. So I would guess the same would go for golf clubs.

Did you mention ship?

We just got off Crown. Agree with those above, Clubs could easily fit

in your walk-in closet area on Princess.

NCL I would say No. But Princess Yes.

They MIGHT fit under bed? But probably rattle.....

I would lean the clubs in the corner of the closet, and call it good.

Oh for the good old days of Ship escorted golf outings, and having golf pros on the ship. It really wasn't that long ago. I just kept the clubs in the cabin.

I know you didn't ask about shipping clubs, but if you are considering it, there's a company called Ship Sticks that seems to be reasonably priced (for shipping within US, at least). We were looking into it for a trip that never materialized. They do ship worldwide, and it's easy to get a quote.

Just throwing that out there since there might be other traveling golfers viewing the thread.

I'll check it out...I assumed it would cost a fortune to do that.thanks.

Here's a thought- call Princess or your travel agent and ask about taking golf clubs on the ship.

Actually, I did have that thought, no one could give me an answer. Usually, CC members have experienced just about everything and are kind in sharing information...

But the comment about bicycles got me thinking....

DH has brought his clubs with him in the hard case. On PCL, you have to keep them in the closet.

There is room, but for a long cruise, it may be an issue for some.

Last month, he opted to rent them in Hawaii instead. He got very good clubs, but that may depend on the golf course/area.

Yes, we do remember the old days when the ship stored them, and there were pros onboard. :)

My husband has brought his clubs many times. You will want to check the clubs just like your luggage and it will show up in your room. The ship won't store but they fit in the closet perfectly .

We were on the Crown for 28 days this past fall and my husband brought his clubs with him on the cruise. They would NOT let him keep the golf clubs in the cabin! We had to let them know which ports he was golfing in and they brought the clubs to the gangway for him to take off the ship. It worked out PERFECTLY...he didn't have to carry them throughout the ship and they didn't take up room in the cabin.

The night before the cruise was over, he went to security, packed up his clubs and they brought them to the cabin.

Enjoy!

we took our clubs on the carnival liberty we kept them in our cabin, our steward did not offer to stow them for us. we played in Cozumel nice course note the walk from the ship pier to the bus pick up is a very long one with no trolley's to load your clubs on to we only took our clubs as we in the middle of a golf hol in Florida I don't think we would take them again a the price of cruise golf is eye watering

Thank you, thank you for this!!! This is exactly what we were hoping for!

We have an alternate option now....leave them in Hawaii. When we get to Honolulu (which is our last port before crossing back to the west coast), we'll rent a car, go get our clubs, play a round, then bring them onto the ship. If we have to keep them in the cabin, it will only be for the last 8 days. So, THANKS to all of you who offered advice and helped us sort this all out! Btw, the shipping option turned out to be $100/bag. This $$ would be better off spent tipping whoever helps us with the schlepping!! :D

Or to pay for the greens fees on Hawaii. It's been about 10 years since I last paid there but I think in still paying that charge off on my credit card. lol

Question: I haven't flown with my clubs since they started charging for bags. Do airlines just consider it an extra bag or is it even more expensive to bag clubs with you?
