Wolftaz Posted April 7, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2016 Looking for feedback as this will be our first cruise on NCL. I booked a balcony guarantee on the Escape for the May 7th sailing and called the Upsell number to see offers. I was offered an H6 for $1,000 pp and tried to negotiate down. This was the last H6 available, so I took it. Celebrating our 20th anniversary so wanted to make it special. Looking for feedback on what the major perks come with Haven. Thanks in advance for feedback!

Rare BirdTravels Posted April 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted April 7, 2016 Super!!!! You will love the Escapeand the pampering of the Havens. We are on the May 14th Eacaoe in a H7. This is our second voyage in the Eacape. We plan to have breakfast daily in the Havens restaurant or with our Butler's white tablecloth room service on port days. If you have a specific snack you want, let your butler know For breakfast room service, don't limit yourself to what is on the breakfast card. Write down what you want. For example two eggs over easy, filet steak, bacon, breakfast potatoes, fresh fruit, and a Diet Pepsi. Or egg white omelet with spinach and tomatoes. Your concierge can help you with dinner and show reservations. If you go to the supper club for the yet to be announced show, the concierge can get you seated first. At the main theater, your concierge can get you past the lines and offer you a seat in Havens seating for After Midnight and For the Record (we normally use the concierge to bypass the line and find our own seats in the center). 4380 Lawehana St, Honolulu, HI 96818-3137 If you go to the comedy show standby, just use the regular line and show your Havens room key. But,,, don't forget that the concierge and butler are not covered by the DAiky Service Charge and should be tipped in cash.

Bluetail48 Posted April 8, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 8, 2016 I know the extra $2k may seem like a lot, but you should have a wonderful time. We are looking forward to our second Haven aft in July on the Escape and have already started our pre-concierge letter for personal requests. We are also looking forward to the Haven area/sundeck since we didn't have access to those while on the Jewel. The restaurant, butler, and concierge will make a difference in your time onboard. You may find it will elevate an average vacation into an amazing vacation...and it may be hard to go back to non-suite after this! Enjoy and happy anniversary to you! Trumpster Posted April 8, 2016 #9 Share Posted April 8, 2016 The only way to travel on NCL is the Haven and more so on Escape it seems. You will love your cruise more now I think.

Since we will be new to the Haven, may I ask what type of requests you would list in pre-concierge letter?
Jenjer Posted April 8, 2016 #11 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Congrats on your upgrade. Defiantly worth it. The follow thru from the pre concierge to the ship may or may not happen. But if it doesn't just speak to your butler or room Stewart and it will get done. Everyone is different but my 2 requests are simple 1. empty the mini bar (its not included) 2. No feathers, allergies. The letter also asks about coffee and towels prefaces but they will just replace what you use. The aft suites have amazing HUGE balcony's so a normal request would be dinning outside on your balcony. You will set that all up with your butler. In the Haven pool area they have a "snack" table but the butler will bring what you ask for sandwiches, chips, cookies, candies (gummy bears and MM's) fruit cheese. Toasted bread with spreads on them. My DH loves chocolate covered strawberries so we will ask for them. Sometimes its nice to be surprised. The room Stewart takes care of the room. The Butler take cares of YOU in the room and the concierge takes care of you outside the room: reservations, excursions, escorts.
Bluetail48 Posted April 8, 2016 #12 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Our pre-concierge has a lot of what JenJer said. It is primarily to appease our two teens who will be traveling with us and mostly things like emptying the mini-bar, stocking the coffee we like (although room steward and butler will figure that out within two days if you don't physically tell them), pillow menu requests, mattress topper for the kids on the pullout bed, pitchers of water for when we return from port excursions, which snacks we would prefer to have in the room...the list could continue. We were new to cruising and didn't know what to expect when we booked our suite on the Jewel. Knowing what we know now, we plan to utilize our butler more (not for trivial things, but things that we would like to have that will make our experience even better). We didn't consider any in-room dining on the Jewel (the room is a little snug for that) and didn't know that was included, but our girls watched movies one night while we want to one of the shows (DVDs request to butler, but we have on demand on the Escape), and he brought sodas and pizza for them. Part of the reason we chose the aft on the Escape is the size of the balconies (we're on deck 12), so whatever time I don't spend in the Haven, I'll be spending on my balcony. If our butler can help improve that experience, I'll take it! I have heard mixed reviews of fulfilling the pre-concierge and have read that some just hand off a list on their first day because it wasn't sent forward to the ship. Since we aren't demanding, we're just asking for a lot of the common things that others have reported throughout these threads. Take a look at the Haven amenities and decide what's most important to you and then start your list. Hopefully it will be conveyed to the ship before you get there, but you can have a little meeting when you first meet your butler and steward. Does setting up for balcony dining only apply for Haven dining or all specialty restaurants? We have the SPD and UBP. Snacks sound amazing.
