We stopped at a nearby dock to debark someone having a medical emergency. Nothing to see here, move along lol.

As a guy that has over 40 years fishing Galveston bay and watching the nautical charts on Garmin electronics there are no sandbars in the channel. I know virtually all the bays from the east end of Galveston out past the jetties.

 

With the draft of the ship they would have been stuck mere feet from the channel in a muddy bottom and no where near the sand bars along the beachfront.

 

This didn't happen.

On the Freedom now. There was a medical emergency and a passenger was taken from the ship along with his family. We docked about 1/2 mile from the cruise port to allow the Galveston EMTs on. The whole slow down, dock, disembark, and cast off took 45 minutes to an hour.

They did make an announcements about what was happening before we docked and when we were casting back off.

Not true. Freedom had to stop at a cargo pier to disembark a sick passenger. It did not get stuck on a sand bar.

This is silly. I'm pretty sure if a ship runs aground they need to send divers down to check for damage and can't just continue on with their cruise like it was a scratched knee.

 

Sorry to hear about the medical emergency, positive thoughts for a happy outcome.
