stipmom Posted April 19, 2016 #1 Share Posted April 19, 2016 We are supposed to share transportation into Amsterdam with another couple and she thought we were on Delta but we are on United. Will it be easy to find each other?
Ine Posted April 19, 2016 #2 Share Posted April 19, 2016 Assuming you continue with another flight? Not realy close together. No real fixed gatenumbers in Amsterdam, it can be different each day. However there is a large center with shops etc. still inside the customs area, have a look at the map of the airport and find a place where you can meet. Maybe one of the restaurants https://www.schiphol.nl/Travellers/FoodRelax.htm or even better at the gate of departure. (check those again at the sceens they might have been changed to another gate.) http://www.schiphol.nl/Travellers/AtSchiphol/Maps.htm In case your destination is Amsterdam, once outside customs control and after luggage pickup at Schiphol Plaza there is a meeting point in the large central hall.http://www.schiphol.nl/Travellers/AtSchiphol/Maps/ArrivalsAndSchipholPlaza1.htm
Cotswold Eagle Posted April 19, 2016 #3 Share Posted April 19, 2016 (edited) A check of today's transatlantic (I assume that's what you will both be on, rather than short haul code shares) flights show the two airlines using adjacent arrivals, 3 and 4. That means you would arrive landside into Schipol Plaza fairly close to each other. If you turn right coming out of either Arrival (after collecting baggage and passing through customs) you will see a large Starbucks at the end of the plaza, which might be a convenient place to arrange to meet if either of you has to wait. I suggest this for familiarity, rather than the coffee! There is only one other Starbucks, a smaller one nearer the main hall and station concourse, but make sure you both know to meet at the one at Arrival 4. You don't mention what transportation you are using, which adds a degree of complexity if you are meeting someone else as well, of course. On this map of Schipol Plaza, the Starbucks I mention is at number 16, under where it says 'Arrival 4'. The meeting point Ine mentions is shown as a red and white cube, towards the centre of the map, which is what it is in real life! http://www.schiphol.nl/web/file?uuid=cf303be4-fc56-4cad-b6f6-d6bd35e70b93&owner=4effe878-1b37-487e-80f2-ac2a2b824537 Edited April 19, 2016 by Cotswold Eagle
stipmom Posted April 19, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted April 19, 2016 Thanks for all the responses. We have booked Amsterdam Shuttle and are having them meet us at the gate. I suppose that would be right out of customs.
Ine Posted April 20, 2016 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Thanks for all the responses. We have booked Amsterdam Shuttle and are having them meet us at the gate. I suppose that would be right out of customs. Are you sure they meet you at the gate? Probably not since it is a customs restricted area. Most likely they will meet you in the large arrival hall after customs and baggage pickup. If they know which flight you will be on they will certainly be at that exit which your name plate. Cotswold Eagle Posted April 20, 2016 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Yes, they will not be able to meet you "at the gate". So you have the problem of each couple coming through a different arrival door, but you can arrange to meet as suggested and whichever one has arranged the driver can bring him too :)
stipmom Posted April 20, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted April 20, 2016 I assumed "at the gate" was just a figure of speech and I expect it to b the arrival hall where we come out.
FreestyleNovice Posted April 21, 2016 #8 Share Posted April 21, 2016 Concourses E, F and G probably, E for sure for a lot of Delta flights. As Ine said, Schiphol uses dynamic gates but there's a pattern mos of the time. No dedicated concourses or airline terminals at Schiphol.
