Yes they are, and even though hair dryers are provided in the cabins I'd bring my own...theirs are not very good :eek:

Yes, indeed. From "What NOT to Pack" on X's website--

 

"For the safety of our guests and crew, there are certain items that are not allowed on board. If these are found, they will be confiscated. Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, flammable liquids, explosives, and dangerous chemicals will not be returned. Prohibited items are at the discretion of the Chief Security Officer and the Staff Captain and include, but are not limited to... Candles, incense, coffee makers, clothes irons, travel steamers and hot plates (Items that generate heat or produce an open flame. This includes heating pads, clothing irons, hotplates, candles, incense and any other item that may create a fire hazard. NOTE: The only exception to this policy are curling irons and hair straighteners...."

I was going to post about hair dryers, Ihate dragging mine along if I don't have to. Do you remember the brand?

I don't remember the brand but the issue some have is that you must keep the button pressed in order for the dryer to work . A wide rubber band will solve that problem. I have hair just above shoulder length and have no problem with the dryers on the ships.

All items with open flames or heating elements are strictly prohibited; with the exception of hair curling irons and hair dryers which are permitted onboard.

Of course hair appliances are allowed! Do you think women would cruise if they weren't allowed to fix their hair?????

I just returned from cruising on two different cruise lines. I had a curling iron on both. There is no outlet in the bathroom. I had to plug in on the desk in the bedroom.
