Dynamic Dining

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Can someone help with an explanation of Dynamic Dining? We've been on Royal several times, but this will be new to us. Do we need to make reservations? Will we be told which dining room to be in on what night? How does this all work? One of those things we're starting to stress about with our cruise only a month away.

Thank you to those that can help.

Depends on which DD (Dynamic Dining) option you have chosen.

DD Choice: You pick the restaurant and time each night, reservations are accepted but not required.

DD Classic: Your dining time is assigned to either early or late, and the restaurant rotation is set by the ship. You receive your restaurant assignment in your stateroom when you arrive.

There are two kinds of Dynamic Dining.

Dynamic Dining Choice, which functions pretty much like My Time Dining on other ships, with the added fun of FOUR "main" complimentary dining rooms.

Dynamic Dining Classic, 1 or 2, is more equivalent to fixed, traditional dining, with the same added fun of four complimentary dining rooms. You rotate through them on a fixed schedule. Your personal schedule will be in your cabin upon embarkation.

Don't stress, it's not nearly as confusing as it appears. I made our reservations on line for our Ovation cruise prior to sailing, and yet when we boarded we had a stateroom letter with completely different reservations listed.

However, after trying a couple of the restaurants, we decided not to stick to our original bookings, and after cancelling at GS, we just made our way to our chosen venue each night without a prior reservation. At each restaurant we were accommodated in minutes.

The Dynamic Dining on Ovation was incredibly flexible, and I'm sure you'll find the same too.
