SwissDave Posted May 15, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Can you pay your gratuities with Cruise Credit? on Princess? Can you use Stockholder credits to pay for gratuities on Princess? Yes, onboard credit can be used for anything. It will be on your account as a credit, and as you spend (drinks, daily grat charge etc) it will reduce. I believe any non refundable is used first. Times Prince Posted May 15, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 15, 2016 The onboard credits (OBC) are credited to the balance on your shipboard account at the start of the cruise. From there on pretty much everything else is a debit on the account, including daily hotel charges, excursions, etc. On our last cruise we had port changes resulting in planned excursions being cancelled, such that our major debit charges were hotel charges vs. our FCC and Shareholder OBC - no issue with how Princess handled the credits. I don't know anything about casino stuff, which is specifically called out in the OBC rules. Maybe someone else can comment on that.
moki'smommy Posted May 15, 2016 #4 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Correct--OBC can be used for anything you charge on the ship with the possible exception of the casino. And non-refundable credit is used first. Non-refundable is anything you got from Princess as part of a booking deal, shareholder credit, military credit, etc. Refundable credit would be anything you paid into your account--for instance, the canceled excursion noted above will be "refunded" as on OBC, but if the full amount exceeds what the person spent on the ship the remainder would be refunded to their credit card or whatever other means was used to pay for the excursion originally.
skynight Posted May 15, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Can you pay your gratuities with Cruise Credit? on Princess? Can you use Stockholder credits to pay for gratuities on Princess? Yes and Yes, all OBC's are just credits to your onboard account, they are stackable, and they are not separated into categories. Any onboard expense except the purchase of Future Cruise deposits nets to your account. Future Cruise Deposits are charged directly to your credit card and are not part of your on board account.
fishywood Posted May 15, 2016 #6 Share Posted May 15, 2016 Can you use Stockholder credits to pay for gratuities on Princess? Rules for the shareholder credit can be found here: http://www.carnivalcorp.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=140690&p=irol-sharebenefit (you have to save the doc to view it) My understanding is that the statement "This benefit is non-transferable, cannot be exchanged for cash and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your account" is not referring to the daily auto-tips but only to extra gratuities you write onto the chit at bars, specialty dining, the spa et al. They just want to prevent any "gifting" of unspent non-refundable OBC to your favorite crew member.

Military OBC is refundable. Also, we have gone to the casino and played slots (never tried the other games) and when you set up the account, it is debited from your account (non-refundable first).
