donsuej Posted May 18, 2016 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2016 Rumor has it that signs have been taken away from the deep pool that usually says adults only and children can now use it. Is this true? Can anyone that has recently been on her confirm this? Thanks!
kbartges Posted May 18, 2016 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2016 That is true. We were on the first sailing that it happened.
Sizzlechest Posted May 18, 2016 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2016 The one saving grace of the Breakaway's stupendously small pools was that you AT LEAST didn't have some 7 year old kicking water all over the place. BTW, how is this not a safety issue?
donsuej Posted May 18, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted May 18, 2016 That is true. We were on the first sailing that it happened. Oh no - I was hoping this was just a rumor. Why, would they ever do this with that pool so deep?
Cruiser Who Knows Nothing Posted May 18, 2016 #5 Share Posted May 18, 2016 I'm holding out hope that they were replacing signs with something more strict.

mjkacmom Posted May 18, 2016 #7 Share Posted May 18, 2016 On our BA cruise, it was a school holiday, and the sign would come and go.
str0nac Posted May 18, 2016 #8 Share Posted May 18, 2016 I was on last week's sailing and I don't recall seeing a sign. We were in the pool with our 9 year old and no one told us anything.
Rare mking8288 Posted May 18, 2016 #9 Share Posted May 18, 2016 We will be sailing BA this coming Sunday and will have a look around & check for signage, if any -making a note of this. Adult pool is 5 feet deep (2 ft. on the shallow end) and it is steep for children & non-swimmer. IMHO, not a very smart move - invitation to drowning incidents waiting to happen with the busy summer season coming up. No lifeguard on duty but a crew acting as a "watcher" only ... hmmm  https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/64025118/2015%20NCL%20BA/IMG20150323_2354%20%281024x768%29.jpg
donsuej Posted May 19, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted May 19, 2016 That picture is the family pool not the adult pool. The adult pool is deeper than 5 feet - it's probably over 6 feet deep.
3poundpuppies Posted May 19, 2016 #11 Share Posted May 19, 2016 We were on the BA 4/3-4/10. The "adult" pool had one tiny sign (8x10 printed and laminated) posted along the wall of the hot tub that was right next to it. That didn't deter the children in the least. Kind of annoying actually, with them kicking and splashing everywhere.
Winnigirl Posted May 19, 2016 #12 Share Posted May 19, 2016 I'll never understand why cruise ships don't abide by their own "rules". The only cruise we've been on where children were strictly removed from the adult areas was - ironically - Disney. I know the thinking is that they "can't offend" anyone - but the opposite is true. Everyone gets offended. The adults that want a little peace and quiet. The parents of the children that are told to leave the adult area. Even the kids who have been removed. I've seen more than one confrontation when a child has been told to leave an adult pool. It's not unreasonable that adults have one pool for themselves. The kids have an entire waterpark - which is great. Enforcing rules makes it more pleasant for everyone.
