World Cruise

I just booked a World Cruise which includes Jordan and Egypt. How safe are these ports of call? My husband is very nervous about the threat of terrorism. The cruise is in January 2018.

Has anyone done a World Cruise recently and how was security?

I am thinking of maybe cancelling and booking another destination.

We've had ports canceled in Africa and most recently Turkey for "unrest." Most cruise lines are very aware of the political situation at the time of the cruise and don't want one of their passengers to be featured on the 6pm news. They will evaluate the situation and make a decision near the time. If you are uncomfortable, you can stay on the ship or forego the cruise.

There are so very many places I haven't been where I don't have to worry about that kind of stuff. I see no reason to visit places where I am hated and not wanted.

Just got off a wold cruise. We had no problems. Jordan was not a problem, and we had a military escort through the Suez channel.

I really don't want to need a military escort when cruising!

Thrak,

I totally agree with you!! BTW I hope we are on the same cruise when you get your Elite card. I laugh every time I see your post. Your first drink will be on me.

I am personally staying well away from the trouble in the middle east. There are far more peaceful and friendly areas of the world to visit like Asia including Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, China (probably polluted in many areas), then there is South America, the Pacific Islands which are all well away from the trouble spots.
