Tour guides at Herculaneum

There are usually a few guides there (at the entrance) but it's anyone's guess as to whether they will be engaged by someone else when you arrive.

 

As mentioned, there's an audioguide; also, if you ask when you purchase your ticket they will give you (free) a nice written guide with a fair amount of detail. They don't give it automatically, though, you have to ask. (And sometimes they are out of the English language version....)
