Excellent disembarkation Piraeus

We disembarked the Journey this past Saturday in Piraeus. We learned the night before that the dock workers were on strike. The staff on the Journey had to unload all the luggage. I have never seen such an orderly process, unlike Celebrity in Miami. The captain got us to Athens an hour earlier to help the situation. Everyone pulled together to get the job done. We walked off the ship around 7:30. Our bags were ready for us and had no trouble finding them. Kudos to the staff who had to put in a lot of extra hours and then had to turn around and get the new guests settled in.

This was our first Azamara cruise and were pleasantly surprised. There seemed to be a master plan and all appeared to work together to make a seamless operation. The senior staff has a plan that has been thought out before action was necessary. The organization of the Amazing Evening worked like clockwork. Getting over 600 guests fed, tendered, and situated at the performance site was outstanding. They are to be commended.

This was one of our best cruises thanks to the officers and staff of the Journey.

Totally agree with your comments, we were on the same cruise (and also our first on Azamara), it will definitely not be our last

I am not at all surprised that the crew were so efficient and helpful regarding your disembarkation.

We leave the ship at Piraeus on June 23. Hopefully the port workers will not be on strike that day but know that the Azamara team will assist us if necessary.

Delighted to hear it all went well for you. That is Azamara, if there is a problem they work out a plan! They are a genuine team and when the chips are down there is no status. I have seen a Captain with a mop and bucket when an unexpected monsoon washed out a white night part way through, that night staff from far below stairs came up to help and the whole event reset up between Windows and the Cabaret in 15 minutes.

You just have to love them!

Pearl, glad you had such a good cruise. Same here! Captain Johannes said the luggage was off in an hour. Much better than any porter gang. Maybe the crew have made a rod for their own backs! The great cruise continues. We are on our way to Valletta now. Sunny skies and smooth seas as before. Safe settle back in.

This is good to hear about Athens, since we just booked the Quest for July 5, 2017 - 7 night Greek Isles, in and out of Athens next year. You should post a review to counter the negative ones that have poste din the last few months. Not sure why there have been some negative reviews lately, but I am going to take them as a over reaction.
