RCCL "five free nites"

Recommended Posts

Ive got an upcoming transatlantic booked.Checked last night to see if prices were the same. The RCCL website shows "five free nites" on this cruise. The prices however appear to be the same as before. Is this just an advertising gimmick?

It's not so much a sale, but a promotion. The promotions are all different and may or may not improve the price depending on the situation, and you have to compare total cost.

For example, a Kids Sail Free (3rd/4th pax) promo won't do any good for 2 adults. The 3rd night free promo for a 5 night cruise results in a 20% discount but is a 33% discount for a 3/6/9 night cruise, while BOGO60 is a 30% discount in total for 2 pax.

And then there's the other part of the equation, where prices tend to go up in categories that fill up quickly, and go down for slow-selling categories... all specific to the demand of a particular sailing.

Are you sure tranatlantics are covered under this promotion? We've been doing them for the last five years and the best we've ever done is a token obc. Usually it places like the Caribbean, Europe, and a few others.

RC has never had a real sale...ever, its all a gimmick. Their marketing/sales team is a joke.

I disagree, that joke team keeps the ship full. Now the deployment team, they are worse than a joke.

Didn't say they marketing team does a bad job, they get the job done, just mean they are a joke. Should be ashamed of themselves for the constant bait and switch.

Isn't that what marketing is. ;)

I don't see what they do as "bait and switch." That means advertising one thing with the intention of actually offering something different. When they advertise, for example, every third day free, that's exactly how they structure the pricing, so that the "full" price is reduced by that factor to get the "actual" price. That's just a marketing promotion (gimmick).

Now, if they advertise a particular price, say $1000 pp for a Junior Suite, and they never had the intent of selling JS for that price, but instead offer you something different, that is bait and switch.

I am quite sure that the site had that posted on my booked transatlantic.Do you have one booked? If so,check it.Also-not suggesting that it is really a discount or anything for free- quite the contrary.
