omajo Posted June 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Hi, Has anyone done the Boston/Bermuda run in early Oct.? What has been your experience? We have done this cruise many times, but always in late May or June. Thanks
Rare BirdTravels Posted June 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Temps in the low 80's F. Lows in the mid 70's F. Great weather. Hurricane season doesn't end until the end of November. While a direct hit is unlikely, could mean stormy seas if you are very unlucky.
mugtech Posted June 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Did it after 10/15 out of NYC, first day at sea a bit chilly, but we had good beach days in Bermuda.
OCruisers Posted June 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2016 It could be a bit on the "Chilly Side". Also, you'll have threat of tropical storms. ;)
jakesnana Posted June 10, 2016 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2016 (edited) Sailed the Dawn out of Boston on Oct. 23, 2015 (last sailing of the season) and the weather was FANTASTIC. It was plenty warm and the humidity was reduced. If I had to choose a date to sail to Bermuda again, it would be this time of year. We had been twice previously (once the first week of July and once the last week of Sept.) and the Oct. sailing was the best for weather. omajo Posted June 10, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted June 10, 2016 Thanks for the responses, I think we will give it a try. How about the seas? I know it could go either way that time of year.
metgame24 Posted June 10, 2016 #7 Share Posted June 10, 2016 We sailed out of NY at the end of Oct. 2012. Weather in Bermuda was nice. High 70's, but when the sun was shining the beach was wonderful! As far as the sea's....smooth sailing all the way down. Surprisingly had smooth sailing on the return trip the day before Sandy hit!!! Lot's of fog, but no rough seas, so you can never predict! (we have sailed to Bermuda in May/June/Oct, very lucky to never experience rough seas on any voyage there or back!)
Zigggypup Posted June 10, 2016 #8 Share Posted June 10, 2016 We did it in late September one year and the weather was fabulous.
Samstress Posted June 10, 2016 #9 Share Posted June 10, 2016 We did it in early October from Boston. The weather was great but the seas were a bit rough coming and going:-( It didn't bother me but it did my travelling companions. We were in a forward cabin & I think that might have made a big difference in the feeling of the motion. Having said that everyone was in agreement that even the rough seas were worth the destination.
