Iceland currency

On Arcadia on August 7th to Iceland. Is it like Norway, where we've always taken plastic and a little cash, or is it more of a cash economy where i should order some in advance?

We've been to Iceland a couple of times and not used local currency. We found our Halifax Clarity card was accepted in cafés in Reykjavik, at the Blue Lagoon and we paid in Euros to go up the tower of the Cathedral. We used our card for entry to the Heritage Museum in Isafjordur and at a café. We did a full day trip at Akureyri so don't remember shopping there.

Agree with the other posters. By all means, take a little cash just for piece of mind, but it`s no problem to even buy a coffee with a CC. As another person mentioned, the Halifax card is great because it does not incur charges. Beware using a debit card though. You will be charged for every transaction.

Iceland rocks by the way !

Best nplace EVER......:D
